MiG-29
Dear Joe,
My name is Lucas Vallejo (as you know Joe) and I live in New Jersey, USA.
I successfully flew my Fiber Classics MiG-29 in September 2002. So far, this is an unbelievably stable flying machine. I have logged 7 great flights and I'm planning on taking the model to "Jets over Florida" in February 2003.
I have yet to fully experience the true speed of the plane. However, the model was clocked at 110mph with only 1/4 throttle!
This model is powered by two RAM 1000's and the serial number of the plane is #10.
If you need anymore information, don't hesitate to contact me ([email protected])
Good luck with the post survey.
Sincerely,
Lucas

Fiberclassics Mig 29 survey
Hello Joe!
as far as i know, only Mr Valejo had sucessfully flew the plane, after much effort to sort out the gear problems.
seems that even Mr Khlur(is that right??) had a few problems with his Mig.
i´m still working on #23 here in Brazil for a client, but i haven´t reached the point of cycling the gear to know how it will work..
by the way, have you decided to build yours?
regards, fred

Anyone who has not been contacted by Dan Kanak at Planes Plus about Mig gear should contact him for the good news.

Fiberclassics Mig 29 survey
Hi all!
Heiko Gärtner from Germany flew his MiG 29 this summer. And he build one for a fiberclassic-customer overseas.
Mr. Chira from Thailand killed his MiG 29 on first flight due to low batteries....
And another guy from Thailand flew the MiG 29 at Pattaya JWM
Wolfgang Klühr flies his 3rd MiG. The first one was sold at Superman in 99. Number 2 was painted in russian colours and is flown at Airshows (saw him several times during the last two years) and number 3 was first flown in 2001 at Thailand.
you see, it is not just Wolfgang who flew his MiG

. Yes, but the point is that Wolfgang and Chanatip (spelling, sorry) both flew their Migs in Thailand and both had problems with the gear !!! I understand that Larry Tudor, has been to Germany to troubleshoot and get to the bottom of the problenms and has the fixes., but wht didnt FC do it earlier !
I could have had my Mig airborne ayear ago either with the gear locked down or risk it collapsing at any time with subsequent damage!!

Why is it that I have a kit that retailed for 10K and has to be completely reworked. The parts don't fit or align properly, I have one elevator pointing up and on pointing down. Whats up with the kit? I hear only one persons flown theirs so far. I think mine will be ready in a few months, but it is discouraging to hear soo many negative reports from everyone building one. Please tell me that more than one person, other then the original designers, have built and flown theirs.

Ok Rojeck my name is Mario Tavarez; one of the closest friends of Lucas Vallejo. I remeber almost three years when Lucas bought his mig 29. I remember his face when he first opened the box. He was so happy and excited about the kit. After the week of construction he called me and told me that everything was going ok until the problem occured with the landing gear; it didn't fit right. For Lucas to fix the landing gear so that it can fit; cost Lucas 4weeks. I remember that night around 10 o'clock when Lucas called me and he told me that the kit is going to be a nightmare to put together. Lucas tried everything to make sure the landing gear opened and closed properly, that is when he got fustrated. He got so fustrated with all the problems the kit was giving him that he stopped the project at almost 9 months. Between those nine months i recall exactly how Lucas started his investigation on how to fix the problem correctly with other people who owned the kit.
We went Jet Florida 2002, he spent about 45 minutes asking questions to Mark in order to get some tips on how to fix all the problems. Lucas got some very good answers. Lucas got so angered when he found out that one elevator was point up and the other point down. That was 1 of the problems on this kit, to fix the elevators correctly. The only thing i want to say is " Guys Lucas Vallejo bulit the mig 29 for one reason and that reason was that this was the only plane he loved since he was 5 years old." If you guys are going to bulid a mig 29 you really have to love this plane and have a lot of patience. Because me Mario Tavarez consist that this kit is for people who enjoy and bulid with patience and love . I would call it" The NightMare". Att: Mario Tavarez

Dear Mario,
You almost made me cry with that childhood story.
What you said, however, is very true. If you want to put this kit together you really have to love this plane. No matter what obstacles you face during the building process, you should make every effort to resolve them. You can't expect the manufacturer to spoon-feed you every step of the process. It's part of the hobby. You have to do research, ask questions, and investigate.
Just like the old saying, "The trip is half the fun." That's one of the reason's this airplane is unique.
I would also like to mention that Bill Stevik was the one that discovered the elevator problem. I'd like to thank him for helping me in the building of this kit. Another good friend of mine, Don DeSandres (JetCopter), gave me the idea to change the ECU of the landing gear to a combination of an electronic speed control and a Mini-Hobby sequence device.
I wish all of you lots of luck in this arduous project.
Sincerely,
Lucas

Lucas, nice to see you have all this free time on yours hands to post all the Mig pics, but dont you think you should be working on my Mig instead of playing here on the computer? Do I have to pay Joe Beshar to come and supervise you so that you are working on my plane?

Don't let Joe Beshar anywhere NEAR that mig, he'll just cover the thing in pink monokote like all his other planes...
Lucas, congrats again on the mig. Nice paint, too, and GREAT flight shots, really looks good.
All the best,
Curtis
Hope to get a chance to fly that Turbine Shrike soon, have been busy, and have to buy another engine...
