So, where do you use threadlock? Where do you *not* use it?

A few things I already know, like red is permanent, blue is what we generaly need, but there are things I'm not sure of.

Like, should I use it on shock caps? On wheel/lug nuts? Avoid using it on nylon nuts?

Generally, thread lock is for metal to metal contact only. I suppose you could use the weak threadlock on plastic, but it isn't advisable.
Nylock nuts shouldn't need threadlock, as they are not very likely to back off.
But really anywhere a screw goes into metal, medium or low strength threadlock is a good idea.

I generally use it on any metal to metal parts. Another words where screws and that thread into a metal parts. Like the motor mount screws and the clutch nut on the crank shaft. But i dont use them on any nit that has nylon on them like the wheel nuts and the shock bolts on the shock towers (for the losi's).

But i would not use it on the shock caps. But thats all i can think of for now

Yes you can use it there - i assume you mean on the screws securing the exhaust manifold to the crankcase?

As has been said, use blue thread locker on any metal to metal contact. Don't use it on the plastic parts like stock shocks. It is suspoesed to weaken the plastic, idk, I don ues it there to see.
Now, having said that, I could not keep the wheel nuts on my LST (nylock nuts) so out of desperation I tried blue locktite and have not had a wheel come off since.

My CRT has no nylon on the wheel nuts, so I guess I'll use it there as well. Then I also won't have to crank them down stupidly tight, and I won't crack the rims. The tires came pre-glued, so I can't boil them now.

Thanks everyone,
Raketemensch
