Default will it make much difference prop wise

I have a fun fly plane one of the club members gave me ,it needed some minor work ,so when I test flew the plane landings are a bit tricky because when the engine is idleing the plane wont stay down much I landed it dead stick once and its better, with the magnum 46 BB engine and a 10x6 prop, I want to try a 10x4 prop so the engine will still Idle nice on landings but the prop wont be pulling so much, will I be ok with a 10x4 ,I never tried one not even on a simple os 40 ??

You'll love a flatter pitch prop on a fun fly-type plane. On the .46, try an 11-4 instead of the 10. It will limit top speed, give more pull, and will act as an airbrake at idle.

It will only add a 1/2 you could use bigger wheels some foam light weights if you take off from grass

According to Global's website, the normal props for the Magnum 46 is either a 10x7 or 11x6. This would leave me to believe you need to get a bigger prop on it.
I ran a 10x4 on a 40 size motor. I think I would look into oicking up that extra ground clearance to use the 11x5 or 11x4 prop.

good point if it's a light plane maybe even a 12x4 if it doesn't load it down to bad

Does that mean lack of ?
then see if someone in your club has some wheels and props you can try before you spend any money
what size wheels do you have now?

also the prop blades ae very wide on the 10x4 that I wanted to try and its heavyer than the average prop, so it may work. Its made by Robee Red in color from UK or austraila

I think you will just over rev with a 10x4 you will need to go with 11 or 12 to run a 4 pitch

Install larger wheels. That 10-4 will let the .46 rev like crazy, and won't be very efficient.

Another way of looking at it is the Horse power ratings for many 46 sized motors are at a very high RPM. Using a smaller prop could, then actually get the engine into its real power band. I tried this with an OS 46AX on a plane that had a ground clearence problem. It pulled like crazy, spooled instantly and sounded so cool at that high RPM. A couple of things to remember, engine wear is going to be significant. ( I think). and thrust will be reduced. When I did it the plane was really light and didn't need the thrust an 11-4 or whatever would provide. ANyway, I don't knwo a lot about this sort of thing but it is food for thought.

I think Ill try it, the worst that could happen is the motor wont have sufficiant power or it will be what I wanted it to be I have a choice of a 10x5 wood zinger or a 10x4 Robee which is heavy for its size with very wide blades and balanced good which will be better at Idle or smoother I tried a 11x6 and its to slugish and cant get into its as you say power band ,I always balance my props to perfection and then when I mount them I check for trueness by putting a pencil on the fuse and turning the prop blade to blade, you would be surprised to see how many props arent drilled true. Thanks for your foot work and help.

I'm with Dr1driver on this one a 10x4 will just be sucking air and may damage the motor by over revving it
46's are great motors but the don't have the guts to turn big stcks so 1 0 or 11 and a 12 maybe in a real light plane is about it
if you can turn an 11x4 or 5 I think it would work best for you

Like I said before do some horse trading at the club
or borrow for some testing before you buy any
I know someone has a box of props they know they'll never use again

you could always go with the 3 blade prop that comes with the evolution power system
not sure what size it is but the engine is a 40 class ball bearing engine so it should load the engine correctly
i have not personally tried one but one of the other guys had a student with one last year and he gave it glowing reports
