I'm now going to wait for a 14 or more channel radio using Spread Spectrum technology! Enough of the out dated 72mz stuff!

RE: Futaba: new radio and accessories
Wojy, I have been using a similar Robbe\Futaba product that works with the F-28 radio. They also have a proportinal expansion module for that radio too. The only draw back was the response time of the servo. Basically they superimpose the signal on the one channel and the the decoder divides it up to the proper servos. I guess it would be good for canopies, speed brakes ect. where resonse time is not critical. The servo speed and the fail safe are nice features that where not available before with the previous multifunction system.

I have 12 channels now and could use more. It vastly simplifies set-up to put each elevaotr/aileron/flap on separate channels. So that's 6 used right there. On something with twin verticals you put each rudder on different channels (then you can have them act as speed brake too) and nose wheel on the trimmed channel. That's 3 more, 9 used. Still need retracts, brakes, speed brake, throttle, etc.

Actually, I thought that the answer may be no, but I just went to the Futaba web site and it did say that this *would* work in PPM mode. However, this needs to be verified by someone with an MZ or a Futaba rep. It would be an exciting alternative to getting more channels for "functions" such as gear, speed brakes, etc. on a jet. It does use time division multiplexing though, so the expanded channels could not be used for a primary flight control surface...
