Default hELP WITH MY NEW RTR GT PLUS

I just bought a new gt rtr plus a few days ago. I broke it in on the day after i got it. The problem now is that when i start to hit 3/4 throttle the car just bogs out. If i keep the throttle on then it stalls out, but if i get out i can save it but i can;t go past 3/4 throttle. HELP!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Kawi

the top end fuel adjustment on the carb is to rich. lean 1/4 turn at a time until the problem goes away, if this does not work try richening the needle by 1/4 at a turn. Do not lean it out to much or it will hurt the engine. If leaning it out seems to have no affect then richen it.

I'm just learning, but I too just got the RTR and found that the throttle/brake adjustments were very bad... The carb was barely opening and the brakes didn't release till half throttle. I adjusted the rods till the carb was fully open at full throttle, and the brake released immediatly upon throttle. (pg 24 in the manual) I then tuned it like the book said and it ran a lot better.

Did you break it in correctly as stated in the car's manual?Try setting the adjustments to the factory settings, and then leaning it out 1/8 of a turn each time(since you live in CA ) Here's a good article on engine tuning http://www.rcnitro.com/rn/articles/super_tune.asp. If you only have one needle, only page 1 applies. If you have 2 needles you can adjust, also read the top half of page 2. It's a pretty intresting article, so you might want to read the whole thing. Good luck!

Good, thought it was just me. I had to change my glow plug after break-in also. Seems the one I have in there now is leaking a little to. That can't help the performance. Does it pay to spend more on a glow plug?

You are supposed to change the glow plug right after you finish breaking it the engine. This is caused by the fact that running the engine highly rich shortens the plug's life. I use the OS #8, its like $6 and outlasts all other plug's i've tried.

Play around with different kind of plugs and you'll be able to tell when one is better for your car then others. Just takes a little testing.

I just bought a coupla glow plugs.. I bought the OS A3..
What do the numbers and letter mean?
I know it has to do with temperature, but are there any stats on em?
I run an HPI SS with 20% Nitro and 18% oil (wildcat)
I'm about to go to OS's web site and check it out

Ram,

I think dbow posted this a while back.
http://www.rcnitro.com/rn/articles/glowplugs.asp

There is a lot of info on this site. This is the only info that I've seen that gives some understandable insight to us, the newly initiated.
