Great Planes Big Stick-Wing Question
Hello,
I am building my first ARF(Great Planes, Big Stick) and find myself posing a question.
When assembling the wing halves together, you are instructed to laminate the spar and let it cure overnight. Then the spar is epoxied each wing half while the two center ribs are jointed with epoxy. The rear top of the wing receives a thing ply wing bolt plate that is epoxied to the top of both wings. This is all that is required for wing joining.
My question is this, "Is this enought support"? I built an original Das Ugly Stick back in the 70's and believe (if memory serves me) I eposied a thin (@1") piece of glass cloth around the entire wing joint.
I heard mentioned GP's posted some sort of problem with the wing in the kit some time back and that a revision was issued. I am wondering if this covered my question?
Any help or input will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Build it exactly as detailed in the instructions and you'll be find. Just make sure that there is zero gap between the two wing halves when you join them. If you ahve a gap, the wng will fold, because the center plywood will be carrying all of the wing's forces.

RE: Great Planes Big Stick-Wing Question
What BAX, Say's is correct. However, I'm from the old school and I still use 1/4 oz glass cloth in the center section. 2" wide. I'm sure the plane is fine without it but I've been doing it this way for so long that I just continue using this technique. Bob
