Default 5645 replacement ???

I see the hitec 5945 has been discontinued so what are some of you gonna use.The 5985 looks like a good choice huh.6 volt 172 oz. in./speed.13
I might use these in a 33%. Also there is the 5965 @ 6 volt 138 oz.in./.10 speed (very fast)

which of the two would you choose ?

The replacement for the 5945 will work just fine on a 33%. You will have to double up on ailerons and rudder with that servo.

I have flown the crap out of several 33%-35% 3D planes and the 5945's have held up just fine. People tend to go overkill for no reason in some areas.

Now for my 40%'s it makes sense to go with 5955's.

WOW joe, that is a very strong servo. It never even crossed my mind to use something @333 oz. for a 33% plane.I will have to check the price on those mules.

Yeah, for me anymore I just buy the 8611A's or 5955's @ 95 ea. and use them on everything Including Throttle!

My planes all fly with athority because of it...

that is not overkill at all, On a 30% plane there is a noticable difference if you use one 5985 or one 5955 on the elevator or rudder or ailerons for that matter, the 5989 is definately enough, not for the ailerons (you need 2) or the rudder but the 5955 is not overkill at all.

I agree why throw around 3000$
Use as much of a servo as you can, especially doing 3d thrust vectoring maneuvers!

Exactly, if a 5945 is 75 and a 5955 is 95 dollars the difference of 20 bux on a 35% plane is a whole 160 dollars... and thats money well spent if you want a great handling plane...
