Default Bandit ARF arrives!

Guys

We collected our first ARF Bandit from the Airport an hour ago.
First impressions are very good, looks like it will fit together quite quickly, paint finish is good, fit of the moulded parts I have tried also looks good.
Many of the parts are the same as a std Bandit so quality is great.
I've got work to do now so I'll have to wait till later to go through things carefully.

More later but here is a taster

Sandor

You miss the BVM point, as most people do.
Some will buy Comp ARF, Some BVM, a few both! I see the merits in both products.
BVM include high quality fastners with cap head servo mounting screws, covers etc-Composite ARF supply perfectly good cross head self tappers.
BVM use carbon control horns, Comp ARF tufnol type glass board...the little differences all add up.
It's not worth wasting finger pressure time comparing because some people buy Merc and some Ford and neither are wrong.

Bob, yep let you know what I think when it's started

Regards

I got my Bandit ARF as well last week. I really was wondering how come the price of the ARF is less than that of the composite kit. I can see now why.

I like it a lot, and with my 3.5 tanks and a P-60/70 it should be safe to fly for 10 minutes.

Dave did you get the instructions for it yet?

Those kind of statements always make me laugh -- someone says you can't make a comparison, but then goes on to make a comparison himself.

well the bandit is twice the cost of a Flash.
i dont see a point to compare
if they where the same price? yes
as for carbon rudderhorns:
overrated carbon is a conductor and can cause electrical discharges on metal parts.
any huge manufacturer of carbon parts will tell you this.
Carbon also has less layers of cloth.
i am glad Gordon i can make you laugh..

Dave,

Any ideas as to what the price (to fly- less turbine and radio) will be. Also would a Jetcat 120 fit in (de tuned off course ) as this is the only spare engine I have at the moment.

I dont think your gonna need anything more than a P-70 in that bird to have some serious fun. I got a chance to get some stick time on it this weekend in Maine with David Shulman. Plenty Fast with a P-60, flys super slow with the flaps down and about half power. Lands like a bobcat. I think the idea behind the design of this model was to keep it lite. I bet in the near future your going to see this one with electric power ! Thats my 2 cents worth , give David at BVM A call for the real details, Im sure he's well rested from his stress free weekend in sunny Maine

Hey G.KERR JR., ask BV if you should run a full power P-120 in this airframe..................but I caution that if you call from a payphone, make sure you have plenty of quarters, you are going to get a long speech!

Seriously, they are making install kits for P-60, P-70 and P-80s. BV prefers the P-60 due to the light weight, but he also recognizes that there are thousands of P-80s out there and this is a great airframe for them. It is a 175+ MPH airframe, and a P-120 will push a similar airframe way up above 200 MPH, better be careful.

I was at BV's shop when these planes were getting ready to ship, I was floored by the attention to detail. I think he is going to sell a LOT of these Bandit ARFs, they are very, very nice.

PS Nick the P-120 will fit in the same P-80 mounting system BV is going to sell, it should be fine turned down to whatever thrust level BV is recommending.

hey MATT, there is alot of balsa bandits out there that were designed for -.96 df power that are flying years later WITH 120's. you have to use throttle management thru-out the flight not just leave it full on. i guess the moral is that you have to be smarter than the airframe

David

Instructions ship about now, just had an email from Patty.

Nick I'll email you a run down on price.

It uses most of the original Super Bandit systems so don't expect a gift.

Looking at the model a P70 would be perfect, but there are a lot of P80 owners that will be very happy with this airframe for that engine.

The fit and internal finish looks very good.

can you elaborate on that? I have a composite Bandit and a Bandit Arf due soon so I would be intested in a comparison between the two.
