Need your opinion
I recently just got my first T-Maxx (pro .15 version) for the outstanding price of $40 [sm=biggrin.gif]. I've already got the 3.3 driveshafts, carriers, RPM A-arms, and turnbuckles. I'm wanting to upgrade my motor to an O.S. 18, but I'm undecided on which version to go with. I know I can get the .18 cv-rx(s) that will bolt right in with no modifications. But will it be more beneficial to convert to the 3.3 chassis and go with the .18TM instead?

with the cv rx i think you do need to modify it, something with cutting the threads on the shaft that the flywheel sits on

OS makes lots of versions of the CV-R series of engines. There are several different crank & carb combinations. The (s) version comes with a short crankshaft and a rotary carb. The "X" just means it comes with a pullstart.

My opinion is...
If you want to use the cheap truck you bought then either keep it as it is or put the OS.18CV-RX(s) on it and be done.
If you want a more modern/higher powered version then sell the older truck and take that money and what you'ld spend on hop-ups and improvements and get the 3.3 new.
Believe me, it's not worth going to all the trouble of hopping up the older version and then having to mod and repair it to take the added stress. You'll have as much or more in it than you would if you just sold it and bought new. I know this from experence.
