Default ahhh what just happened!!!!????

ok i just took my dads savage 25 out for the first time this year. it was runnin alittle rich, but it was the first tank in a year so i didnt mind. but all of a sudden it came to a stop. my rear left tire stopped moving. is my rear differential shot? i wasnt jumping or anything, just cruising around the grass/concrete and then bam stopped and wouldnt move. then it worked and stopped again. only the one tire though, the gears off the motor arent stripped. help!!!!!!

Is the engine still running after it stops?

If so, I would guess that something is binding up the left rear drive shaft.

ya the motor still runs, it was wierd cuz i had stopped it, then gave it gas, and it wouldnt move, so i picked it up and the one tire didnt spin, so i spun it and it started to spin, then it locked up, i dunno, when i move it with themotor off sounds like a gear is shattered, but if thats the case why wouldnt it do the same to the other rear wheel?

I wouldn't be able to say. It sounds like you're going to have to get you hands greasy and crack it open.

Which Savage 25 is it? If it's an early one then it probably has the two gear diff. Those strip easy. I stripped mine before 1/2 gallon of fuel. If it is the diff replace them with the four gear set up. There much beter.

From that middle picture, it looks like you have something stuck iside the wheel. Could that possible be binding up the wheel? Not sure what it is or if it is even anything important.

hah i was waitin for some1 to point that out, yea its 4 wheel steering, i put that on last night, my dad had it layin around (with some other mods ill b doing that he hasnt put on yet) concept was good, i had to drill out a different hole for it to line up, but its kinda tricky driving, especially when half to WOT.

Most four wheel steering equiped trucks are harder to control. If you have an extra channel, you set up the rear servo to be independent of the front. The stock HPI transmitter doesn't have that extra channel, but you could lock down the reverse lever into forward only and free up channel three for the rear steer.

After all, you already taking it apart.

4 wheel steering is an intresting novelty but unless you rock climb it's more trouble than it's worth. These things are hard enough to control at high speeds as they are.
