Default TRAXXAS TRX 2.5 & 2.5R Tuning Problems

I have had tuning issues with my 2.5 and 2.5R, I know others have. I heard that the problem is the carb, if you install an OS .18TM carb and your tuning problems go away, tried it on mine works great. Can't be sure it will work for all worked for me!! Make sure to seal backplate and carb base with high temp RTV.

yea I did the same thing but I used an O.S. carb of a different engine and it was a rotary carb but it did make my trx2.5 run heaps better and more reliable.
The big thing that I did notice was that when I put my finger over the end of the stinger and prime the engine with the air filter off the fuel that comes out the carb is a much finer spray than it was with the standard carb and I think that helps with the fuel atomization.

I baught it 2nd hand but never used on an online auction for about $20nz and it was off a .18 and it has 11L stamped on it under the idle screw I think the L is for rotart type. The slide carb of the same size has 11K stamped on it.Hope this helps

I have a revo with the same carb trouble, the engine is difficult to start and when it does start it idles for short periods then shuts down. I put the carb of my OS 18 TM on the 2.5R
and it ran like a dream but i still had a small problem. The OS carb is bigger than the stock carb so it fit very close to the spur gear so i can't get the air filter to work on it, i think this issue is only for the revo, now i need to try another carb (with a metal body), any suggestions??
