Default Carden 150cc extra 300 prototype !

Well guys building season is here and I'm very excited about this winters project, I will be building a 40% ( 37.5% actually ) extra 300 prototype, If all goes as planed I'll have the kit around the middle of october.

This is a very special project for me because I'm a huge 300 fan and have always wanted one, a huge thanks to Dennis at carden aircraft for making this possible. As with my 260 I will be posting picture of the 300 as construction goes along.

Albert,

Can you explain the differences between Carden's current 40% 330 and the 40% 300 your building? thanks ........

JPrc,

The 330 will stay as is, the 300 is a new airplane.

zzw26n,

The "330" is really a 300s the reason must people call it a 330 is because some full scale guy (don't know the name ) put a 330 hp engine in a 300s years ago and decided to call it a 330, so carden's 330 is really a 300s as are the rest of the "330"s out there.

Now here's the differences,

300s is a single pilot shoulder wing aircraft, the 300 is a two pilot mid wing aircraft. The 300 has a much bigger canopy which should translate into more side area making rollers and point rolls easier due to requiring less amount of rudder. I hope this helps.

I'll fly it for both of you and tell you how great it is.

Jon- Godfrey 300 owners are not allowed to fly a Carden 300.

I am not quite as fast a builder as Albert, but I will be posting my build / pictures / comments right along Albert's as I build number 2. We do not know 100% yet how much difference will be between prototypes 1 and 2 as some decisions are still being talked about.

Wayne and Dave,
Albert is trying to do a build thread on the 300. You guys shouldn't 'hijack' the thread with non-pertinent information to building the Carden 300.
thanks for your understanding.

Lucky for me it survived his midair! I talked to Wayne the night before and told him mine was delaminating. He said "well let me see what I can do". (I didn't expect him to hit someone so he could give me his gear) But it sure is a good thing you asked! What a great guy.

I am here to help.
I think having that gear on it is what got you into the Masters as the demo dude.

Jon and Wayne,
Could you please keep the personal attacks to your self!! If you can't keep this on track I'm going to bring TWO Diamond Dust's with me to the next meet we go to!!! Albert that should get the micro pilots under control.
Can't wait to see some pics of the new 300. Dennis keeps improving everytime so the pressure is on the prototype builders now.

The best thing about this new 300 is that the "big shots" will be selling their 330 and edges even cheaper now and guys like us can snatch them up. Keep up the good work Carden us bottom feeders - tire kickers thank you.

what is the difference between the new 300 and the older 300 they used to make besides this one being a 2 seater?? i saw the prototype picture of it on the carden site, looks good. Im still trying to decide what new 40% carden to build this winter, just dorked my edge and got it back together after the engine came back from DA, so im in need of a new 40%.

Ryan,

Compared to Carden's existing 40% Extra 330, this 300 is a mid-wing design with a longer 2 place canopy so, theoretically, it should roll better and knife edge better while retaining all of the great characteristics of the 330 (which should actually be called a 300s). I have flown Albert's 260 and it is really really good- rolls fantastically and the rudder is eerily strong. He just needs to tighten up those noodley sticks and maybe extend them a bit (dang helicopter guys and their radios). I think this 300 will be even better than the 260- more side area, same wing and wing placement, slightly longer tail moment.

I want one.....
