i was going wot then i hit my freinds savage the crash brought my truck to a dead stop when i gave it some gas it wouldnt go very fast at all so shut it of and checkt the rear diff it seemd almost like i had a diff lock so i took it apart to take a better look and it turned out that outside of the diff cup was strecht out i opend it up and one of the gear had split in two and one piece was inbeded in the side of the diff cup i manage to pull it out and i saw little bit of sraple inbeded in the sides does that happen often?

Whoa! The term "Whoa" is right!

I've never fragged my diffs before so I do not know if they literally explode like in your case. I've heard of diffs stripping spider gear teeth, and just recently, I stripped a tooth on my rear 13T bevel gear when I came down hard from a high jump while gassing it at full trigger (obvious user error on my part).

Would it be possible for you to post some pics of this damage?

WOW!!![X(]

You sure were'nt telling a tall tale when you said they exploded! That is some serious $#!+ !!!
You guys must've collided way hard!

Were those the 2 gear spiders? I don't know if even 4gear spiders would survive this!

Nice one... The best I've been able to do is stripped teeth and cups. Actually busting the gears in half... now that's carnage.[sm=thumbup.gif]

I have busted gears in half loads of times. I didn't have them shimmed and still had plastic cups (so I think it was my fault). I have never got peices of metal stuck in the plastic before, but I have made a hole in the plastic. I have upgraded to aluminum cups and shimmed my diffs and the problem has stopped.

Yeah that tend to happen a lot if you have a hard enough collision and stay on the throttle. This is from the shock of it and nothing else giving like the tranny gears or the spur gear it self. This tend to happen a lot in big rigs if they accidentally back to far up and hit the loading docks to hard at a small speed. I mean it's not all that common in this hobby but how many times do you have a good jolt like that that brings a truck like this at a dead stop that fast. Most of the times if you do then you have other things to worry about then your diff right.

It took about 2 weeks to get them. You could allways go rear wheel drive for a while, this way you can at least use it.

It might be long but the nova's are made of 7075 alloy so if your going to get some anyways you might as well get some of the best ones. At the worst i can maybe lend you what you need till they come in, what exactly would you need to fix your truck? We are probably going to go play some paintball on saturday anyways, want to come?

@ t-2 ? i got a paintball gun but i need a mask and co2 plus my gun hasint been used over a year . its gonna cost me a fortune plus i never will use my gun again so im kinda wasting money on a $50 mask + $20 4 co2 and unless u have a gun and are going to forest or something its gonna cost alot to go to an arena . back on topic if a plastic diff cup can last a while if treated well i dont think the absolete strongest iluminum is necesary . btw do u have msn so we dont have to use the forum to talk.
