Default Painting over Covering ???

I have a cessna 182 that has painted tips and fuselage

but the covering is a bit lighter. I am not sure what the covering brand

is. Can i paint over the covering once i get the wrinkles out or is this

not advised? Thanks.

Hi,

Yes you can paint over all of the plastic film coverings. Once you are shure the coveing is taut scuff the area to be painted with fine wet and dry paper. Mask up and use a series of very light coats to cover rather than a heavy wet coat.

Good Luck,

Colin

Campbec has described the procedure.

I suggest using the green "scrubbies" for abrading the film. All you want is a "frosted" appearance. Be careful as it is easy to go through the covering, especially on high points such as ribs.

I also suggest cleaning the area TWICE using rubbing alcohol and clean cloths to insure all the residue and oils are removed prior to masking, priming and painting.
