OK, first I've never flown any aerobatics. I tried once with my SE and now I'm looking to get another SE. I think one of my probs was the prop I was using.

I was reading the manual for the Magic and it suggested using a 12.75X3.25, or something like that, prop to do aerobatics. My thinking was go with a larger prop with more pitch.

Is it better to use a prop with less pitch for this type of flying? I figured more pitch would put more air across the wing.

More pitch = more speed, and less static thrust.
Less pitch = less speed, and more static thrust.
High pitch is good for propjets, quickies, and other speedy types.
Got a funfly? Stick with a pitch in the 4-6 range.(for .40 sized planes)

You didn't say which engine you're running.
For your average sport 45-46, I'd say try an 11x5 APC. It's my favorite so far,
for a 3.5-5lb plane with an OS 46 installed. Others like the 12.25x3.75.
Your mileage may vary. Depends on the plane, the engine, the weather, and your altitude,
to name a few factors. Maybe purchase a few different props and experiment.
(11x5, 11.5x4, 12x4, 12.25x3.75, are probably all good to try, for a decent .46)
There are differences between makes and widths, too. Use what makes you happy

I was using the OS46FX on the SE, will use the same on the new SE and the Magic, if I get one. I normally use an 11X6 with that motor, but tried a 12X6 and 7. I didn't like the way it flew with that prop so went back to the 11X6.

My next SE will more than likely be a kit. I don't like a plane that looks the same on top and bottom. I can make my own design with the kit.

Basically, I want to learn how to hover, knife edge, etc. There isn't anyone at my field that does that type of flying to show me how, so I'm on my own.
