Seriously, you should check that the gear mesh and slipper clutch are properly set, and that there are no loose screws and nuts around, and other stuffs as described in your manual. Ahh, read the manual entirely first!
I use GP3300 and GP4300 packs and ICE charger. What's your budget for batteries and charger?

i use radio shacks gp3300s, theyre great, you cant beat the price and theyre gp cells. i purchased seven 6-cell packs and made six 7-cell packs. check it out, i just finished the project last night http://www.uvm.edu/~schiare1/Picture...l/101_0488.JPG i cant wait to run them. i use a MRC super brain 977 charger and that works pretty well. it comes with a power supply which is cool. and you can charge 2 batts at once. as for hop-ups, i would just wait till you break stuff before you go buyin parts. you'll probably break your front arms and front bulkeads, then i would replace your arms with rpm arms and bulkheads with traxxas aluminum bulkeads. just go get it dirty, its too clean!

the IB4200 packs are one of the best packs on the market now, but they are also very expensive (depending on how much money your lookin to spend). the gp3300 packs are also one of the best packs out. i would say the gp3300s are the most popular packs because they are made by gp (gold peak), they are fairly cheap if you get them at radio shack, and they have a long life span. as far as the number goes, thats the capacity of the battery. the larger the number is, the larger the capacity. a high capacity basically means a longer run time. the "gp" or "ib" stands for the company of the packs. gp and ib are the most popular companies.

The GP4300 packs give more punch than my GP3300, the increase in power and performance is pretty obvious, and they have roughly 1/3 more runtime. I only managed to run them twice before my EVX died. Both GP4300 and IB4200 are the best currently. The chargers mentioned above will all do the job, it really depends on what extra and special features you are looking for, eg dual charging, graphing capabilities, ability to charge other cells and lots more. Lookup Towerhobbies to compare their features.
