Next jet, skymaster F-16 1/8 or TamJets F-16
Hi,
To winter plan build next jet.
This jet is 1/8 F-16.
- Choose? skymaster Or tamjet ?
- What is it kits work in less ?
- Have these kits complete hardware ?
I plan use JetCat P-80 turbine, this turbine is not too big for 1/8 F-16 ?
Sorry my poor english.
Robert.

Hi,
I look on dreamworks site and see tamjet F-16 http://dreamworksrc.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=930
Kit price is 895$
What more I need to complete build this kit ? (of course without turbine, radio, servos, battery) ?
Maybe dreamworks can send kit to poland.
Robert.

RE: Next jet, skymaster F-16 1/8 or TamJets F-16
I have both size F-16s, although my Tams is the old balsa wing. The Skymaster is bigger, especially in the fuselage dimensions. I would not put a small turbine in it. A P-60 would work, but is intended to be mounted in the tail and other weight saving tricks are recommended by Skymaster, such as eliminating ailerons. A P-70 or 80 might turn out ideal. I don't think there are enough folks that have tried more than 14 lbs thrust to provide the data though. Mine has not flown yet, and I plan to use an AT180. (And I plan to CA my fingers permanently to the throttle stick )
The small Tams F-16 can have a P-60 or P-70 size. But it's a smaller airframe. It is 1/8.5 with a shorter fuselage. I would not put a P-80 in it even if it fit.

Hi,
I've had a P-80 in our Falcon, which is 1:9th scale (68" length) and have seen it fly on a P-120. The landings were a bit fast, but not at all unreasonable. Both these airframes are bigger, so....?

Robert,
P-80 will fit for Skymaster F-16 (1/8). We have many customers use up to 21lb. engine in this plane without problem. The ARF Plus structure is strong enough for the power of P-80.

Hey! What do you mean "old" ???? It has only been in customers hands for 10 months!!!
although my Tams is the old balsa wing.
10 months? Has it been that long? In this market, one container of models, all sold out in a week, and the jet is already obsolete. Can't get parts, no support. Maybe what I meant to say is makes me feel old[]

Another problem, when I use P-80 turbine the weight of F-16 is not too big ? No problem with landing (fast speed need ?)
And main question in this thread, you advice which kit is better, skymaster or tamjet ?
Robert.

Robert,
The Skymaster F-16 will have no problem with the weight of P-80. This the original size that the plane designed for (P-60 to P80). Also the Skymaster F-16 have flaps to help slow down in landing. You should have no problem.
The other plane is about 10% to 15% small then the Skymaster plane. I don't have experience for the other F-16 beside Skymaster one. Therefore, I unable to comment other company's product.

Eric,
Does the SM F-16 really have "flaps" or is it just the ailerons programmed as "flaperons?"

Sorry, I mean flaperons.
pantherflyr,
Not every company's F-16 have flaperons. They eliminated it to reduce weight of wing. The ARF Plus are light and strong, with flaperons still same or even lighter then other competitors' similar F-16.

RE: Next jet, skymaster F-16 1/8 or TamJets F-16
Thanks all for help me.
I give skymaster, all white for custom paint. I put information from build progress on my web site.
Now I only think about turbine, maybe P-70, P-80, SimJet 1200 or another one.
Regards,
Robert

What am I missing here ? Seems like you make your decision about which airframe to use based on which of them will accept the P80, and now you're trying to decide whether to get the P80 or a P70, or ... ?
The logic here escapes me.

My apologies..... brain was not switched on when I replied.... Since I always suggest the P-60/70 setup for this airframe (lower weight), P-80 did not register in my brain without my morning coffee [X(]
