Default zen 50 what engine??

we are busy with the assemble of a zen 50 and contemplating what engine to use. we have a rossi53 with bolly tune pipe or a saito91 and a choice of 46's-51's. any experiences would help :drowning:

Default zen 50 what engine??

adrian,

post your maiden flight results. my ZEN 50 has a webra .61 speed turning APC 11x7 about 14,000 rr's. What do ya think about the paint scheme on the cowl? i think she's a keeper..

i would go with a YS FZ63 or a OS61 FX. The ZEN 50 is not a lightweight construction but flies excellent with the YS.
52/4c or 45/2c is much to weak.

Default zen 50 what engine??

thanks guys- yep the zen is a beauty just what i have come to expect from a wm. the cowl ,well pretty damn marvelous.
we are going to give one of our rossi53's with a bolly carbon/kevlar tuned pipe a chance . it's a pretty strong engine with the ability to swing a 11x7 at 15 + so the speed should be OK if not we will run one of our 61's or perhaps run a saito91 only time will tell. should be testing the plane at the end of the month.

adrian-RCU,

What ever happen with your rossi/zen 50 trial? I got a zen 50 on the way and plan to use my N-rossi 50 in it.

Default RE: zen 50 what engine??

I'm currently in the process of fine tuning my zen-50 as per my requirements. I put up an OS 50-SX in it with the standard muffler. Done about 15 flights on it n believe that with the right experience setting it up, it can turn out to be a pretty decent machine. But would still appreciate ur comments on the maiden flight so that i can make adjustments in mine accordingly.

My combo is Zen-50, YS-63, 12x7 APC on Powermaster 20/20- turns about 11.6K and idles at 1900* Perfect match of plane and engine IMHO

It flies on rails and other than some coupling issues in KE flight it is a great little pattern plane!
