Default opti-drive for failsafe?

I had a failsafe laying around from my revo and i kind of destroyed my ofna micro failsafe and can i use the opti-drive as one? I have a rc10gt with a hot bodies rcvr in it. will this work? i tried to hook it up but there was no throttle response. how do you hook this thing up to make it work? Thanks for the advice.

Default RE: opti-drive for failsafe?

The opti drive for the older 2.5 Revos did not have a failsafe system. All they did was regulate forward/reverse and let you know if the battery got low. The Optidrive from the newer 3.3's does, I think, have a failsafe in addation to the other functions but I do not know if it can be used as a failsafe in another system. Most people don't really like the optidrive and remove it in favor of a dedicatd failsafe.
Honestly, you'ld probably be better off to just get a new failsafe.

Depends on what you want it for. It it's for when you lose signal or batteries go low, Optidrive works great for a failsafe.

But, if you get your electronics wet or they malfunction, hello runnaway! Had this happen on my Maxx 3.3 just a few days ago bashing in the snow.. it took off and the throttle servo was going nuts.

aww, you had no throttle spring return?! I got so lucky with my revo 3.3. The throttle went out and I was wondering what was wrong with it. I was so lucky the REVO 3.3 came with a throttle return spring. If it didn't, bye bye...

I destroyed 2 rcvr boxes before i put this on all my rcvrs and servos, heres a link of what i used http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXDZ18&P=ML i have the 2.5 revo opti-drive, I almost had a run-away when i was on the track and on the other side of the jump was a puddle (didn't see it) and it went right in. the failsafe kicked in and saved me. My track is on a corner and there is streets on 2 sides and if it ran away it would of got ran over. But a rock hit it in a bad crash and destroyed it
