The MVVS 1.60 is about the most powerful in class, and can 3D a plane up to 12 lbs if used with tuned pipe. For aerobatics and sports 12 - 15 lbs is fine, with planes in the 70 - 85" span class.
35cc, 45cc and 58cc are all powerhouses, but may be a bit too much.

Check out my Cap X on the following website. The engine size is ideal, for this plane, and the plane is on sale for $249.00 in U S dollars. You can get into gassers for a very reasonable price with this combo. I am just learning its capabilities. So far, I am very impressed. I have utilized the customer service from BCMA, and have found it to be incredible as well.

First time Gasser then get a Zenoah. if some engine experence (patience too required) then try one of the Chinese engines.
Cant go wrong with an Ugly Stick

A Four Star 1.20 would be a little difficult to set up with a typical gasser, do to the lack of a cowl, and narrow fuselage, but with a little creativity, and an MVVS or Evolution engine, you may get away with it. I am afraid I haven't read any of the threads on setting up the Four Star with a gasser. As far as the plane choice goes, it is an excellent plane. However, if you have advanced flying skills, you may find it to be too close to being like a trainer. Just some thoughts...

A bit under powered for wild 3-d stuff, but a very good combo to just have fun with.
