SAVAGE X-SS Owners - POST YOUR COMMENTS
ATTENTION ALL Savage X-SS owners! Post comments about your truck here..
How is it going, any breakages so far, what bits you've needed to replace....I had mine for several weeks now and no problems! Its one TOUGH truck! [>:]
Feedback on the truck...what mods you've done...
Had problems with the half lean bog?? post here!
Was just wondering how other XSS owners are finding their truck...

Mine has been one good truck! I have put in an Axial .32 motor, Fantom Works pipe, Steering bearing upgrade, 3 speed tranny, aluminum clutch, wheelie bar.
And in the mail.... LST shocks, New axial rims and axial dirt devil tires. I think thats about it.

Hi! Got my mt about a week or so. Had install the biggest HOT BODIES tyres n rims combo(7inches and the thread looks like a flame, beautiful!). The truck look MASSIVE! Breaking in the temperature was way above 120c with standard plug. Had change to OS8 and the temp drop to 80c-90c. I than test the truck with the big wheels combo on grass and it ate the standard clutch after 1 tank full run. Had change the tyres to another Hot Bodies set which is around maybe(5inches) and I install a modified MUGEN Alum Clutch shoe! Had tested the truck at our local off road track on sandy+muddy terrain and the clutch work extremely well! The only drawback with big rims and off road tyre set up is that the front steering rod keep popping off after a hard jump or on tight turn!! I m running a Hitec 24kilos titanium servos for the steering,(the best) Also, take note that the pull start cable can get loose quite easily! Other than that I am a happy man!!
It's a lot of fun and the truck performs well during high speed runs!! the suspension is superb! Had not tested the original tyres as I want to save it for competition.[8D]

LST conversion looks sweet. Notice much of a difference over the stock shocks? Better durability? Better dampening?

I really want to get a Hitec HSC-5955 (333oz/in), but at $114 its almost a quarter of the price of the XSS kit!

Hello everyone, I'm planning on getting this truck after Christmas with a Spectrum Dx3.0. and have lined my self up with an airbrush and compressor to paint the body. Other that that what am I going to need in addition to the kit? Forgive me but I’m new to all of this and have no idea what I’m doing any help would be of great value. (I’m doing this for my grand kids so please help)

u will need fuel, glow igniter, and a couple of tools to go with it (most of the tools r included in kit), hope u have fun with ur ss x kit, NAthan

my savage x ss is built and is downstairs waiting till christmas 
i got the spektrum dx3 radio with bluebird steering servo which has 200 oz of torque its mega nice MASSIVE! first savage

DavidKirkbride, beware of the Bluebird servos. Many memebers have reported them breaking and stripping gears after a short period of time!

I have a Bluebird in my Lightning GT - and so far so great.. My X SS is also getting one. In any case, for the price you it's worth the risk..
ps To be honest, this is the first I've ever heard anything even remotely negative.. German forums are full of positive comments..

I myself and torn his Christmas to either order an D30M for about $150 or get the Z-SS kit (sorry, I have to resort to the 'puter with the busted "eks" button). I really want the Z-SS kit, if not for anything but the alum diff housings, the reinforced tranny boz, etc. I just wish other ezpenses in life are not getting in the way. I might resort to the D30M since it is cheaper for now, but I will (and that's a promis) get the Z-SS kit nezt year. I too have heard very little negative about it (save for the problems that are usually tuning related which can be corrected with ezperience).

) costs around US$150!As regards throttle servo, I am running a basic S3003 - perhaps something with a faster transit time would be good, but the basic S3003 seems to do the job fine.
