Default engine questions

hey guys,
ive curently been working on resurecting my rs4-2
so far everything is in great shape. i have some gpm tierods coming in and aluminum steering crank. im going to be replacing the steering servo with the servo that came with my airtronics mx-a
i have a single speed, but am looking into getting the two speed either from an rs4 parts car if anyone has one for sale, or i will try using the street force gp 2 speed

my 15fe pooped out on my long ago, i ran it once had a radio failure and the engine has not started ever since, i think i can fix this i took the engine apart and everything seems fine, i think maybe i need a new glow plug and maybe clean my carb.

ive been looking around in the forum and everyone seems to recomend the 0s .18 engine
looking thru tower ive found tons of OS .18 engines and i honestly cant tell which one is best for me
i hear the TM is a monstrous motor that will tear apart my drivetrain and is way to powerful for someone of my experience level
i used to run rc cars but was never very good at it, i was better at building them than running them

i have a bump start setup so i want a non pull start motor, im sick and tired of yanking on that little cord
which OS 18 engine is best suited for me
should i go with slide carb or rotary carb
11j or 11g, what does 11j and 11g mean?
which flywheel should i go for
should i get any special type of motor mounts
what is the cheapest basic exhaust system that i should get?
any tips or tricks?
how should i break the motor in?

well guys?
thanks in advance

you want the OS 18 cv-rx with the slide carb, if you are having problems with pull starters you are doing something wrong, get the OS with the pull start, if you cant start an OS with a pull start you arent meant for RC's, my OS always started for me, and no charging batteries, if you are using a starter box you want a non-pull start flywheel, hpi makes them, also you want some different engine mounts to lower the engine and allow it to contact the starter box wheel, the ths racing exhaust system is a fairly cheap and cost effective exhaust system, i prefer the rd logics turbo II pipe though, little bit more power, and use the heat cycle method for your engines break in

i saw one of those that siad it was turbo port or something like that, what does that mean whats the difference
as for the pullstart, i can afford a non pullstart i have all my gear
im sure my old engines problem is something simple im gonna check it out when i get paid, but i think its about time lol
one day of yanking the hell out of that hpi nitro star 15 fe is enough, i dont want to deal with that stuff

the os 18 cv-rx is not a turbo, what makes it a turbo is the head button, also, the hpi 15fe wasnt the greatest engine, to give you a hint at how reliable an OS is with a pull start, i took it out one day, pull the cord 3 or 4 times and it started, so i give it throttle, the carb opens all the way and the rpm JUST BARELY rasies (i just mixed my first batch of fuel) and it was running over a full turn rich and still idling with no problem, if i can get an os 18 cv-rx to start at over a full turn rich, then you should be able to too, the pull start doesnt run outta batteries either

very true but my starter i have setup up with a 12 volt and i can also hook it up to my cars battery

yeah that 15fe is horrible
when i first started in this hobby i couldnt tune that engine for sheet and it wouldnt even idle, i had the piston and sleeves replaced once and still the engine was crap, and now im on my second stab at the hobby with the same engine and i cant seem to figure it out, its either me or the engine one of us has got to be a loser

well then get the starter box setup, its under $100 i beleive, just make sure you get the mounts and flywheel, i think i heard that normal mounts and the stock flywheel will work too, never tried though
