Default Hurricane Fan for OS-91 pusher revisited

Hello all,
With the mild winter we have had in Ohio I have been doing a lot more flying than I normally would enjoy. Recently I decided to get back in the shop and tune up / finish ongoing projects in anticipation of the coming flying season. Among those projects is my TGA F-15 that is in need of a new Hurricane Fan. Does anyone have any current information on the availability of those fans or replacement blades for them. I know that the original manufacturer is not making them any more and second hand units seem to be as rare as hens teeth. Does anyone out there have any leads or suggestions as to where I might look for a replacement?

TIA for any information that you can provide.
Anthony

Steve Corney & Rudy Petronio both designed the fan back in the 80's & the era of Mile Square Park Fountain Valley.. Don't know if they are still into RC..

one just sold on ebay. it sold for 86.00. i thought about buying it but i already have 2 and no there not for sale at this time. i am having problems with one of them though. i have in my byron f-16. fairly new o.s.91 (under 20 flights) but it seems like it won't pull the jet. yes, it will take off but, it takes all of the 500 feet of asphalt runway. it barely hits 50 mph. cant loop,it barely rolls, and forget about any type of vert. it is a hair heavy at almost 14 pounds. any ideas?? thanks guys.... donniercjet

hey ram-bro, yea its up on the pipe. it screams, i would guess around 20,000 to 22,000 rpm. i do keep it a little rich though. i always have a steady stream of smoke. we were flying it at the omahalks field in-fact...

Darn it, I have been checking Ebay regularly and mush have missed it. I paid more than $86 bucks for my first one and would hav paid well ove that for the one I missed. I will have to keep a closer eye on the market.

Thanks for the info

Anthony,

I have a hurricane rotor for a Byron fan that I would be willing to sell. PM me and I'll send you my phone number and we'll talk. Thanks.

you could search the ended listing on ebay and make the lucky guy who bought it an offer.

I ran both a Hurricane and Byron fan unit in my F-16 and I always like the performance of the Byron. It would get off the ground quicker and although the top speed was a little less then the Hurricane I prefered the Byron.

I too think I have one with an engine and pipe. I am never going to use it again, so if you need one drop me a PM.

Mine was a little over 15 pounds and flew OK on the stock Byron rotor and a OS.91.

BTW ... mine flew off of grass

Thank you all very much!!!

I had one flight on my TGA F-15 at just over 12.5 lbs and it flew great right off the board. unfortunately A bolt that I missed with the loctite rattled loose and was eaten by the fan. it flew so well that I hate to change anything on it.

Thanks again to all that replied with fans, you have PMs in your inbox.

Anthony
