Touring car
I have a few questions about electric touring cars.
1) Are they good for "on-road" street pavements/ asphalt and side walks?
2) Can they reach speeds up to 50mph.?
3) Anything special I should know about them? (I have only worked with an RC10 T3 truck).
Thank you

RE: Touring car
Yes you can use them on smooth pavement. If you upgrade them enough they can reach speeds in excess of 50. The world record was set by an electric tc. Not too much different except I wouldn't advise jumping them lol.

Do you know of a good touring car? Like a specific brand or something... I'm looking for a fast brushless motor (anyone know about the upkeep needed for those things) that goes 40+mph. or a kit with some upgrades already done.

RE: Touring car
my electric tc4 hasn't been clocked but, it has beaten plenty of nitro tc3s.
it has the 7700Kv mamba brushless system. with promatch IB4200.
taking care of them are easy. after runs i just use an air compresser and blow of all the dust and sand off the motor, ESC. well basically the whole car. look at my profile for all the details

Look at the TC4, the XXX-S, the JRXS, and about a million tamiya kits. what budget range are you considering? are you going to race it or just bash it?

RE: Touring car
My budget is around $300. I can ask for more money if needed (IE my birthday). I wont be racing this car, just driving up and down my neighborhood. I want this car to be fast though, fast enough to race, but I'm not going to race it. Any links or ebay items would be greatly appreciated. I'm interested in a black Lamborghini touring car that goes 40+ mph. with a carbon fiber chassis.

RE: Touring car
I would say get a TC4 if you plan on just driving in your neighborhood. Parts are cheap so it you break something with your rediculous speed it wont break the bank. Also it will be alot less maintenance than with a belt car. You wont have to replace the belts ever because there are none. Here's a link to the rtr http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMGP9&P=7 tower doesn't have the the team or ft in so if you want that you'll have to look elsewhere.

RE: Touring car
I need a link to a website that has what I'm looking for. I want a Black Lamborghini electric touring car kit, that goes 40+ mph. and has a carbon fiber chassis (or a regular black one...). Any ideas?
I like these two:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXKVY8&P=7
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHZB9&P=7
Also, would you recommend 4 Wheel Drive or 2WD? I will be using a NiMH battery pack.

RE: Touring car
i think the factory team edition for a basher is overkill.
4wd IMO is way better. like another member said on these forums "it will drive like its on rails". since 2wd will tend to whip the back end around in turns. like comparing a regular 2wd car (real) to a subaru impreza in terms of handling...
what kinda pack are you going to run. matched? what ESC and motor?
btw anyone know why they discontinued it? is it because the TC5 is in the works?

RE: Touring car
You can buy a lambo body later you don't have to use the one it comes with. If you are just runningin the street don't get the Factory Team. Even though the carbon fiber is cool it is super unnecesary for street running and you'll just scrape it up. Get the regular team version. Amd about the going 40 mph you'll just need a hotter motor and larger pinion.
LOL "on rails" someone pays attention to my posts. Was that from the one where the guy was asking about a tc3 or jato? Anyway the reason the tc4 is discontinued on tower from what ive heard is just that they are not in stock. They said something about AE stocking up on parts in their warehouse or whatever. Even if is is discontinued you'll be able to get parts for many years as you can still get original RC10 parts. I have a TC4 and am not worried about getting parts, or being competetive with it.

RE: Touring car
yeah it was from the tc3 and jato post. lol
i don't have plans on racing mine either. i just go to this parking lot at night with about 20 guys and we run everything from my baja to 1/8 monster trucks to touring cars and 1/18 cars.
we have a blast. its like 2 acres of smooth parking lot.

RE: Touring car
You will need to double your budget for what your asking.
TC-4 RTR: $250
BL set-up (Motor/ESC): $200-250
Good Batteries: $40-60 a piece
Better tires to handle that power: $40
Lambourghini Body: $25
Just like my set-up. I have the TC-4 with the Novak 3.5R BL set-up. I have at least $650-700 in the car alone. That's not even including all my bodies i have painted in the past for this car. About another $200+.

RE: Touring car
Thank you all for your help! Sorry for not searching first, I should have done that. I do have another question but it's kinda random. What determines the "strength" or "horsepower" of a T3 Stadium Truck when it drives uphill? I want my truck to be able to "climb" steep hills with rocks all over. What gives it strength? (besides flooring it and hoping it goes uphill faster )
