I think bc they use more material to prevent pivotballs pulling thru the axlecarrier so they travel less. I just bought these for my TMaxx 3.3 and Im disappointed the setscrews wouldnt thread correctly. Others' experiences may be different though.

Larain60 is correct. It is because there is more material holding the pivot balls in place, thereby limiting the suspension travel. If you want to use the Long travel rockers, use stock axle carriers or by some cheap aluminum ones (aka integy) and dremel out the pivot ball opening. this is also a good thing to do for racing as it can increase your steering.
