Take it out, clean it with nitro cleaner or alcohol, dry it well, reinstall it. Do NOT oil or grease it. Clean the shaft too and if the shaft is glazed use some very fine grit emory paper and sand it lightly lenghtwise to break the glaze.
My experence is just go ahead and replace it but maybe I was just unlucky.
The part is about $20.

yeah thanks DaveG55 .....the darn thing was running fine after new os.18 was put in then it just stop moving all together while i was trying to get tranny 2-speed set right...i took it apart to check my gears since it has been sitting on the shelf for several years and everything looked but some times the owb didnt grab
