THROTTLE LINKAGE-WHICH IS BETTER??
Currently have one continuous solid rod (approx. 16" long) linkage between servo arm and throttle arm on my zen. Problem I have is that when engine is running, rod has a slight flutter due to vibration, affecting throttle slightly. Was thinking of changing over to cable but have been told that I should instead fit a bell crank and use two smaller solid rods as this would give better control that using a flex cable.
What is everyone else using and should I stay clear of using a cable?

I have one rod that connects to the bellcrank that is part of the BHHanson throttle kit. No problems so far with it.

My throttles were setup with a flexible "NYROD" used in rc planes. the flex of the plastic pushrod allowed me to start the engine and warm it up in the pits with out using the radio. Because the throttle is a pull system and didnt have to be pushed closed, there was no need to be supported or have to run in a sheath. i have also used steel fishing leader as a linkage to

Hi OLD SLOW....don't you get problems with your flexible rod vibrating around which in turn would create small movements at you throttle butterfly. As this is the problem I am having and thse small movements at the butterfly cause the motor to rev up and down slightly (a hunting sound!!)

Thats where it probably would not work for me on my cracker box, as most of the time I have to keep it at 3/4 throttle max otherwise boat is too loose to control. Looking at changing my setup to sold rod with bellcrank in between.

use fishing leader then you wont get any vibration or use a cable with a sheath? you wont get any vibration with either unlike with a solid rod and its cheap too.buy some crimps and some leader from the tackle shop and jobs a good un .

The best way is with a cable. If you saw the video from Sonic http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5543114/tm.htm , you would see how much the engine moves due to hull flex and engine torque. A solid rod will give you throttle fluctuations in any boat that flexes (basically all boats). You would get the least amount of fluctuations using a cable.
