RE: any one hook up nitrous to gas engine
well .. lol.. the ramifications. lmao
you CAN do it if you want.. youll need a 10-15 shot nozzle and a burst timer thats alot shorter say 2-4 seconds instead of 15 .. and i dont even think your boat can haul the tank lol.. so another method of delivery "much smaller tank" would be preferred heat dissipation will be your main concern as when you trigger it .. its gonna heat up pretty fast lol
all in all.. if you can manage the above itll prolly jump out of the water or rip off the prop .. 1 of the 2 GET VIDEO!!

You better have a forged crank and pistion and a good rod or you'll,for one burn your pistion out, throw a rod or spin a crank out.[8D]

spin crank means ....the crank half is pressed together and trued and that can twist out in some ways ....but note im just joking here ...i have enough sense not to run somthing like that .....

RE: any one hook up nitrous to gas engine
Wouldn't you have to adjust your timing or you'd blow up the engine.
When you say spin out a crank a few things come to mind, mainly a Nascar style wreck in a corner.
Are you talking about toasting a bearing??

actually NOS sells setup for rc cars, I'll have to find the link, I agree it's ridiculous though
Actually not the company NOS, it's NX

RE: any one hook up nitrous to gas engine
this was done on a Zenoah 260 , I don't know all the details but I saw the engine after nitrous run
the piston was cracked in half, cylinder wall cracked open the conecting rod was bent.
I don't think it's a good idea to use nitrous on a 2 stroke .
your boat would go much faster if you dropped it off a fifty story building. LOL

Yesterday we tested a 260 Pum with a NOS system.
The setup:
Zenoah 260 PUM ( just had a brake in )
Booster bottle, connected to the manifold
NOS System, connected to the manifold
It works and the NOS gives a great boost…
Unfortunaly due some radio problems, the runs didnt complete as planed.
If the engine is idle at 4000 rpm, and when a injection of NOS is given, the engine boost up to 12.000 rpm.
It looks very promising.

I have plans on running a sneaky pete kit in one of my bigger cats.
Lets just say the boat didnt just get NOS decals because they look cool
Thing you have to consider is "moderation". If you want to blow a motor apart with nitrous then you certainly can. But if you make small increments and know where to draw the line I am sure it is do-able.

Exactly. Ive been using nitrous for quite a few years now.. everywhere from small little 10hp shots on 5hp briggs motors to 2 and 3 stage 500+ shot kits on race cars. My personal car i ran a 375 shot in a Fogger kit on my 347
I see no reason why it shouldnt work on a rc boat if as you say, you consider moderation and dont just go slapping a line into the carb with some 'nawz'. I plumbed up a small dry kit on my 49cc pocket bike... sofar i have only used a .012 jet and it picked up quite a bit. Have plans to stretch it and put a bit bigger motor in with a little more nitrous soon [>:]

RE: any one hook up nitrous to gas engine
i can see this used for top speed pulls, but for just toolin around i cant see this to be needed. if yor going in a straight line to see how fast you can get your boat to go, i tink this would be helpful. other then that i cant see if for constant use.
id liek to turbocharge a little motor. i think that would make for soem awesome power from a small motor. only problem is finding a contained turbo that small. since no oil lines can be run to the center fo the turbo the beargin section would have to be sealed.

RE: any one hook up nitrous to gas engine
Problem with a little turbo is that you would loose your tuned pipe. Tuned pipe can make a considerable increase in power. Taking off the pipe and adding a turbo that may not make much more power is a little self defeating. Plus it will be diffictly to make something as reliable as a tuned pipe. Turbos will have a tough time being efficient at the size we will need for RC use. And they are not very forgiving when they suck up water.

RE: any one hook up nitrous to gas engine
it is just for the speed and not for normal joyriding...
so i think you dont put nitrous on your engine... but tune him up... you still going hard witchout killing your engine...
an turbo....
hmm maybe a charger but a air forced turbo is very difficult but possible...
the water problem is not a problem at all..... the turbo gets very hot so he will burn the water
the reso muffler can work without problems.... just put the turbo on the end off the muffler....(inboard)

RE: any one hook up nitrous to gas engine
yea plus the added weight of the turbo setup is why i havent pursused it. even a supercharger liek they use on the tmaxx motors is to small for our motors, and i cant find anythign between those 2 sizes.
basically i think nitrous is the only power adder worth using if your goin fast in a straight line.
who knows, maybe ill put some on my yellow boat, make it do barrel rolls

RE: any one hook up nitrous to gas engine
hmm maybe an ''rootsblower'''you can buld it yourselve!
and wait.. that man on the meetings in germany with the riva.. he buld his own v8 engines.... i'am not realy sure, but he even had an charger on it
very cool and the sounds are cool too..
but why you want so many power in so small hull??
buy a QD or a Mathe...
even I.M.P. Engines are possible...
the 39cc gives 14.hp bij 18.000 rpm.
the 49cc lgives 16.hp bij 18.500 rpm. but much more torque than a 39cc
39cc --- 600 €
49cc from 750 €
wanna now more???
[email protected]
give him an e-mail
dutch guy...
blata's or polini's also possible..
get a good engine and start to tune it up...
than talk about strange things!!!
regards
