Default Traxxas Nitro 4-tec?

I am planning to buy my first nitro rc car. I would like to race, but not until i get comfortable with my driving skills. I would like to know if the Nitro 4-tec is a good choice. If so, what upgrades should I plan on getting? I know very little about this, so anything will help.

Thanks,
Jason

the 4tec is a really good car to start out with...ez start makes it alot easier to start(hence the name) another choice would be a nitro tc3 rtr allready built if u need it..all ready to run and u can max it out with sweeet hopups once u get racing
good luck have fun!

Default Traxxas Nitro 4-tec?

My friend has a 4-tec, and its a pretty good car, but it was broken all the time. Every time I would ask him about it he would be like "oh i broke it again". I have a Yokomo gt-4, which is the same price as the 4tec, and is great. I still haven't broken a part, and it is extremely fast! 60MPH out of the box. I think the GT-4 is a great car, just another option.

I would go with the TC3 but I haven't driven either of them. I have a HPI RS4 SS and it rips! Goes close to 50 with my tuned pipe. For a beginner I would go with the HPI just because its probably more reliable. I don't know anything for sure but the TC3 is a race oriented car and isn't quite as reliable. But I can't say for sure as I haven't had any experience with either of them.

Default Get the traxxas

I have the traxxas and have not yet broken it, it starts just fine and easy. It is a very fast car it can make excellant sharp turns at full speed, id say the top speed of 50mph and at top speed its got good handling. I rolled mine only once in the three years ive owned it and when i rolled it i was making a sharp turn at full speed and a rock caught the wheel, it rolled seven time and only scratched the body didnt effect the car at all. The upgrade ive got is the stinger tuned pipe and thats great to have but work on your driving skills before you get the stinger tuned pipe. GET THE TRAXXAS.

They got the new 2.5 motor in it now which pushes it just over 60..
