RE: 72 inch boat drive???
if thats how you want it to work ... then yes .
Of you could run side by side engines , with standard drive setups or run side by sides with one engine countered ...
from your drawing ... looks like you must have BIG bucks to spend .
Twin inline QD's .... AND twin MHZ drives AND an MHZ gearbox ????
Lets see ....
2 Z Drives @ $400. 00 each = $800
gearbox = $280.00
Qd engines 2 @ $850.00 each = $1700.00
Total for that setup = $2780
And thats NOT including the rediculous shipping MHZ charges ... OR the HULL and radio gear or props ...
WOW

The problem in monos with twin engines and drives is that when the boat leans in the turns, the engine on the high side gets that prop higher out of the water and can over-rev it then you're shopping for another one. They do been to work better in Cat hulls as they stay flatter on the water when turning.

RE: 72 inch boat drive???
Whats wrong with a single stern drive? It should not look too small on the transom of a 70" hull and will be easier to setup and power with a motor like the inline Zenoah.
An easier setup means more time on the water and more $$ in the pocket.
[link=http://groups.msn.com/JustaddwatasRCBoats/65inchmhzfirewater.msnw]this boat is 65" long and really does not look big with a single stern drive [/link](if anything - I think the drive is a little on the large side)

RE: 72 inch boat drive???
That is some good advice from JAW. I take it this is one of your earlier builds. Don't spend all the dough on the first one because you will learn so much that you will most likely feel your next project would be much better. When you have run/built enough boats to come to know what you are looking for, then spend the big $$ and time. But if you are the sheik of Sudan, by all means go for it.

RE: 72 inch boat drive???
The hull design has allot to do with how fast your going to go. If your looking to go fast then talk with the boat builder first. When you add a gear box it takes HP. A clutch takes HP. How much, not sure. But I would guess about 1 HP per box or clutch. So if your looking for speed. Find a fast hull and buy two engines W/O clutches and no gear box. Its also cheaper this way and easier to build. Tom's systems cat seems to run good. 79 mph whoohoo. That's hauling on a budget. I think a systems cat will be next build for me.
