Sorry, we can't re-schedule for a rainy day, I ordered this weather specially! Although engine-building, engine and spares purchases and refreshments are all inside the building, engine-running takes place outside, we always have a good display of planes out there too and we are hoping to have a couple of turbine helicopters flying tomorrow.

Next one will be some time in the summer.

You are welcome to take photos - anything we don't want people to see will be hidden away before our guests arrive!

Please note - the phrase "Centre of Excellence" has been coined by Treadstone, not Wren. (We are flattered if that's how he regards us).

No not the Centre of Excellence, Instead.

The Wren Turbines is a very mysterious and powerful device and its mystery is exceeded only by its power.

I won't see you there because I will be out today, flying my Boomerang XL with my new Wren XL 200 in it.

First run up yesterday showed fabulous fast spool up time and more power than I need!! Also the start up time is so short from ignition to running it took me by surprise.

Further comment to follow after flight testing today. I think it will be great!

Well, I took the Boomerang XL with the Wren XL200 out today on a beautiful summer day (74 degrees in England in April!!) with blue sky and boy, what a fine turbine. Easy rapid start up, about 30 seconds to running, every time and amazing power. Spool up time every bit as good as promised by Sara at Wren, about two and a half to three seconds from idle to full chat. Ten turn spins, long slow flight followed by instant spool up without hesitation each time.

What was striking was that I was getting ten minute flight time from the same tank I usually get only seven or eight minutes maximum, and landing with a quarter tank of fuel left!

With the best vertical performance I've had from any turbine I've tried before, including some others which claimed over 30 lbs thrust, taking my XL with half a tank full (one US gallon tank) weighing over 32 lbs truly straight up going from slow flight to full power in about 2.5 seconds.

Remarkable and very good to see this all British turbine literally blowing away some of the so called big names in turbines.

Well done Wren. It was worth waiting for.

Dont Know who this Gent was ...
Dean Jackson, whose name is well known to helicopter flyers. He's good enough at 3D heli flying to be one of the judges at the World Masters 3D heli championships. He and his friend Paul made the journey from Kent to Yorkshire today to fly their turbine helis for us.

It's been a great day - good weather and good company. Thanks to everyone who attended, the furthest travelled was by Allen Roberts of New Zealand who has been a Wren customer since 2000. Several engines were built and run by customers and everyone found interesting things to look at and plenty of things to talk about.

It's good to hear that Alan Cardash was also out in the sunshine today - looks like the Boomerang XL and the Wren XL200 are a happy combination!

As a newby to all this jet business, thanks to Wren for a great open day. My 2nd visit to Wren and the new unit is a great facility.

Thanks especially to Mike for his detailed resume of the parts that make up the turbines in order for that suck, squeeze, bang, blow process to creats such a sweet sound and deliver that desired thrust, excellent.

Demos excellent and plenty of building going on. I think you convinced a few more of us that the XL is likened to garlic bread, in the words of Peter Kay - "ITS THE FUTURE".

We heard that Alan had received the 1st shipment and I see that his report is pretty dam convincing, so John, if your reading this, get one bought for your Boomer XL, how much more convincing do you need !!!!!!!!!!!!, then Ill follow with a bit more experience.

The Heli guy was absolutely fantastic and what a great showman! Shame he couldnt get near enough to give JP a quick hair trim. Scruffy sod.

Thanks again.

Martin
