Nexstar going electric
Hey everyone,
Ive been looking a lot into getting my nexstar electric, but cant find much info on power to my servos. I am planning on using a 3-cell lipo on it and i know the servos can only handle up to six volts. Should I be running a seperate battery for the servos? Someone please help me untangle my complicated thoughts!
Thanks,
Michael

RE: Nexstar going electric
Hi, there are two types of ESCs. One has a BEC which means (Battery Eliminator Circuit) and one does not. If your ESC has the BEC it will have a on/off switch as part of the circuit or the paper work will state very clealy NO BEC INSTALLED> The other type of ESC has no BEC and in this case use a separate receiver battery and a charge plug and on and off switch just as if you were flying a Slimer. My rule of thumb, Any model with a 4 foot wingspan of smaller I use an ESC with a BEC and if the plane is larger as most of my planes are I prefer to use a separate battery for the receivers and servos, either 4.8 or 6 volts depending on the needs. RE: Nexstar going electric
Wow !! Great timing.I also just got a Nextstar.I would like to convert to E power. What is the least amount of voltage i would need to run this puppy ?I have access to a Hacker 10XL,9XL,13XL,10L.And Astro 1412 1.5.I also have a 3.5 to one planetary gear that will mate to any of these motors.I figure I can engenere a way to just strap that motor to a regular engine mount that came with the kit.Is that a good idea ?
Also the kit came with a 10-6 prop.I figure I may need something bigger so I installed taller wheels and adjusted down the nose gear.Hope I didnt Hi jack your thread...Thanks.

Go to:www.electrifly.com This site will tell you exactly what you need to convert a Hobbico Nexstar. This is a site of Tower Hobbies which distributes the Nexstar.

Does anyone know how the performance of the Hobbly Lobby conversion compares to the electric NexStar now sold by Hobbico?
