Thanks.

http://manuals.hobbico.com/hca/hcap0280-manual.pdf The operation manual for the Hobbyco. Elite charger explains the high and low voltage for all the batteries we use. Nimh's will be between .9 and 1.1 V per cell low voltage cut off.

For the pack, it is safe to go until the ignition starts missing.
This will not hurt the pack!

wait till it hits the ground--
OR
simply check your ignition battery each time you go out flying
a good 4 cell 1400ma Intellect pack weighs under 3 ozs and will fly for many flights - 6 anyway -
your 5 cells gain you nada in performance.
ask DA if you doubt this.

Don't forget if the voltage gets too low when trying to start it has a great risk to backfire.

The lowest voltage for any 1.2V rechargeble battery is 1.1V per cell. Multiply that with the number of cells.

I fly as long as it reads 6 volts at a 500 ma load. When it gets down there it's usually time to go home anyway.

Default RE: Ignition Voltage

Currently running a 5 cell 1200 Nmh on my DA 50. I usually fly about 1 hour 20 minutes per on a given day of flying. (4 - 20 minute flights.) Based on the mah's I replace when charging the ignition battery after flying, it takes around 850 mah to bring it up to full charge.

Discharge you battery down to 1.1 volts, then charge your battery fully. Note the number of mah's to full charge.
Go fly your plane. Then go home and note the number of mah's that it takes to bring your battery up to full charge. Now you will have a gage on how much juice remaining whey you fly for a given amount of time.

When you can only replace about 80% of a batteries rated capicity, it's time for a new battery.
