Default Cowl Cutting

im putting together a f-4 phantom and need to know what tools everybody uses to cut the cowl out to make a smooth cut line, i dont want to mess it up and have to buy a new cowl . thanks

Default Cowl Cutting

I have used sheet metal shears on both plastic and fiberglass cowlings. A rotary cutter also works. Files and sandpaper finished it up.

If you need a straight cut on ABS, a razor saw is your friend.

Default Cowl Cutting

what i like to use is a dremel with a small rotary cut off saw. cuts good through fiberglass and carbon fiber. then just finish up with some fine sand paper and your done.

Dremel with a small drum sander works great and is easy to control.
