Now if you could couple them up with another 4 hat would be a nice V6!

It never ceases to amaze how much talent there is out there when people are able to put such things together. Nice motor. Load of work gone into that when you think it all through.

I think they are from MHZ in Germany, there are some more pics on the net somewhere. They did have a inline twin V4 on the table right next to those in the pics I saw. Would be easy to "Gear up" as well.

Would you think a geared setup would survive? I would think the engines would hammer eachother and strip the gears quickly.

Check out the middle pic, it is a toothed belt, very tough.

Sorry, I didn't pose the question well. I was wondering if they were to use gears instead of a belt if that would work or if the gears would wind up stripping from differences in the way each motor would run? A belt would absorb any shocks and variations that occur, but not gears.

I think if the gears mesh were tight enough it would survive but I'm not a machinist. It would depend on firing order as well. I think if you had 1 gear on each motor then a central gear for the shaft the back lash wouldn't be as bad. I figure this way, there is constant load on the engines through the prop so they wouldn't be going back and forth, it would just be how much load is applied one way. Not very clear idea there but I hope you see what I'm getting at.
