Default Wheels II

my last post got locked...I DUNNO WHY....i think because the moderator THOUGHT i was advertising the wheel...No No....those wheels can be bought at any hobby store for about 10$ i was just showing my buddys design on what we were thinking about...and about how much i had tied up into it thats all.....

Anyways i kept telling my buddy he is making something harder than it needs to be.....here is a pic of the final product...(NOT FOR SALE BY ME) not to bad looking

you can goto the local hobby store and get everything......
here is a list

2 5/32 axles 1-1/4" long about 6.00
1 pack of 4x8x3 (mm) (was a qty. of 4 don't need them all just 2)
they were 7.00 for a pack of 4
1 set of 26mm rims (HPI or anyone else) 10.00
1 set of cheapo 26mm or i chose the x pattern @ 15.00 for 2

I had 2 c-clips laying around. but i imagine that you could get small c-clips at local hobby store also.

The(HPI) wheels come with two hex shaped spacers that fit the back side of the rim real snug. So i drilled a hole through that plastic spacer that was the same O.D. of the bearing....(actually a lil smaller so that the bearing fits TIGHT!).....then i ca'ed the spacer in the back side of the rim (hub..it preshaped for it and it's plastic so the ca sticks real good).....then i used a a 5/32 wheel collar to set the depth of the rim so it would not hit the leg of my landing gear...

last and not least i chucked the axle into my drill and the put that into the vice.....I got my dremel out and a cutting wheel....to put a groove on the axle for the c-clip.....THAT'S IT....

WELL IT HAS NOT BEEN TESTED.....but all looks just fine....here are the pics.....

Default Wheels II

It is a nice looking wheel but I think it's just a little small. But if that's what you're shooting for, it is a nice looking wheel.
