2.5 to 3.3 maxx problem.Spur gear trashed
Ok.So I was out doing the last step of my break in for the new 3.3 and the motor starts zinging like crasy. Spur gear was melted all to heck in the middle and the outside grooves were shot. There was two things wrong with the truck when I took this morning. The idle was way to high first of all.I didn't think anything of that, I just wanted to finish the break in. Second was that slipper pegs were even with the gear, meaing that they weren't touching the clutch period just the gear was. My LHS is an hour away and I wasn't driving there for pegs. What could have happened?
1.The idle was to high and when I was hitting the breaks the motor gear chewed the supr gear up OR
2. The pegs needed to be replaced, this is what melted the middle of the gear. Then the clutch locked up and chewed up the outside of the spur gear up.
Which one guys?

1. Check the mess between the spur gear and the clutch bell.
2. Check the clutch shoes & clutch spring.
3. Turn your Idle down-your clutch is engaging and your brakes are on so something has to give....spur gear
