New Revo owner
Well, almost. It will be here sometime in the next week. This will be my first nitro vehicle and I haven't really messed with R/C since I was a kid. Anyhow, regarding the Revo 3.3 - I was wondering what (and where) everyone is using for fuel and glow plugs on their Revo. I've done a little searching around and most say run whatever is available in local hobby store - but they have Traxxas and some other brand. So I was just curious if there is something a little more widely used that can be bought online.
Also, if there are any other things I need to stock up on. I'm pretty excited to start messing around with the truck and maybe even head out to a track in a couple months.
Thanks for any help/ideas.
TJ

If you got a Fluke meter you'll be fine.
I use McCoy MC-59 plugs & 20% O'Donnell fuel -love both.
You'll also need a 7.2v battery stick & charger for the EZStart
Welcome to Nitro!!!!! soon you to will be a Nitroholic....

RE: New Revo owner
what is wrong with blue thunder?? i was just recentaly recommended it by my LHS and it seems to be working fine, but now im worried as this is the second time i've seen someone recommend against using it.

any fuel BUT bluethunder, traxxas top fuel is good, and try to stick with 20%, you have a bigger tuning window so easier to tune and stick with medium to hot plugs also, durtrax LR3 is a perfect choice. And i would buy a temp guage and 2 glow ingniters so if one goes dead it doesnt ruinyour day

RE: New Revo owner
TJ,
I too recently purchased a Revo 3.3. I also own a T-Maxx 2.5 that I've had for about four years. In my Revo I use the standard Traxxas glow plugs and their 33% nitro fuel. However, there are a lot of other good glow plug and fuel manufacturers out there as mentioned in earlier messages. For consistency when tuning I would recommend that once you select a fuel that you stick with it. I don't believe the glow plug manufacturer matters as much as the type of plug (cold, medium or hot) depending on the time of year. As far as spare parts, carry a couple of extra glow plugs and spur gears. I also have a spare battery for my EZ-Starter. The next big purchase I would recommend is a good transmitter and receiver, and maybe upgrading your throttle servo to one that is strong enough to easily overcome the throttle spring tension. Some guys run without the spring, and that's your personal call. Lastly, once you receive your Revo I would make sure you engine mount screws are tight.
Regards,
Bannon

RE: New Revo owner
Ok, to get started - I think I'm going with this:
20% Traxxas fuel (because they do have this in the local store, in case I need it in a pinch)
OC LC #3 Glow Plug
Fuel Bottle and after run oil
I already have a charger and battery that will get me by, and the Fluke should work nicely for temps. How about the extra spur gear? What one do I need, 36T or 40T?
I've managed quite well not to buy more than I absolutely needed. Though, I did break down and buy a new airbrush. =).
