Update on U.S. Certification
We were hoping to have the PST J600 certified by Florida Jets. All documentation has been submitted and accepted. However, due to unfortunate circumstances we are required to resubmit a video format of an engine run. This has been done by PST Thailand and is now enroute to the AMA. This time all the Ts have been crossed and Is dotted. I hope to have good news soon!
Cold weather starting
Up here in Canada we have the good fortune?? of being able to do cold weather testing. The PST runs great in the cold and the thrust output is quite amazing. However, the PST as do other autostart engines can be a little harder to start when the ambient ( outside ) temperature falls below 5 C or roughly 40 F. This is primarly due to a pressure drop in the butane / propane mix that is used to start the engine. A simple fix to this is to leave the PowerMax or but/propane bottle in the warm car until you are ready to fill and run. Don't fill and empty the start cartridge too often or ice will form and block the tubing.
Engine taking a while to ramp up
The PST J600 should go from initial start to running in around 45 seconds. An ideal start will be around that time with no flames evident during start up. If the ramp is reaalllly slow then reduce the start ramp number ( default 45 ). Remember its better to have a longer flameless start than a fast blow torch especially if you have the engine in a bypass / exhaust tube installation ( ie BVM F86, Yellow F16 etc )
