Default The Eagle has landed!!

o.k. guys, here it is! My first large bird! I wish I could take credit for building it myself, but I just don't have the room for building one this big! It is a 38% Christen Eagle from Frank Knoll plans (Eagle Aviation kit I believe) 82" top wing 78" bottom wing. Power is a Walker-Sachs 4.2 w/ slimline smoke muffler and CH ignition. I just picked it up last night, so I cleaned her up for some pictures out at the field. I need to replace the fuel lines and the batteries, tighten her all up and gonna maiden flight next weekend, weather permitting! I will let you all know how it goes as soon as I stop shaking!!!

and this is how I get it to the field! I threw this rack together in a couple of hours for under $20.00 and I am very happy with it! I can carry the 38% Eagle and my 62" CAP 21 PLUS another .60 sizer! I LIKE IT!!!

Default Nice ...

Nice looking plane.. has it flown yet ( by another pilot? )

Will be a joy to fly... had one myself. Takeoffs are no problem and very predictable. Very nice flight chariteristics.

Mine really floated on landings. Be ready for that. I found that I needed to add full up at the point of stall or the plane would bounce 2 to 3 times.... With that technique, it would 3 point every time.

Be careful, have a great first flight. And PREFLIGHT check everything well.

Good Luck ! She's a beauty

Thanks for the comments, guys! I will spend the week doing a thorough preflight!! I am going to replace the fuel tubing, on board batteries, new receiver, etc etc. Yes, it has flown before as I bought it used, so I already have a fair amount of confidence for my maiden with it! I will let you know and I am sure that JohnVH will have video up as well. (nothing like a little added pressure on a first flight, eh?!!)

regards,

Astrohog
