Positioning the prop

Positioning the prop
What is the best position to place the prop in relation to the start of the engine's compression stroke so that in the event of a dead stick landing the prop stops as close as possible to a 9:15 position, or is it different for each engine/prop combo and so trial and error is the best way to achieve this.

RE: Positioning the prop
For 40cc and larger place the prop at 1 o'clock start of compression for safer stand up starting. Don't wory about dinging a prop in a deadstick. Way better than kneeling to start an engine and have it get loose.

RE: Positioning the prop
No one plans on having a deadstick, but in the event that it does happen I'm not really worried about dinging a prop on my 20-26cc motors, what I am concerned about is the possibility of my wacking it hard enough to get either the prop hub or the crank out of alignment.
