Parts for AV8R? Where to get them....
Hello Jet Jocks,
I have a AV8R that had a bad wet start. The stab and rudders were burned off in the explosion. The rest of the plane is intact and the fuse under the tail is solid. The AV8R had a foam, balsa, carbon fiber tail feathers. I'd like to get these parts to repair this jet. Does anyone have these parts or know where to buy them?
I have check FLYPCM which used to be the manufacturers website. But, it is not a valid site. Anyone know what happened to PCM models?
Thanks,
DW_Crash

Is it not a simple wood/foam plane? I'm sure one of the modellers with scratch building skills (try one of the older guys) could help you make some bits from scratch.
I built a smaller version of the DV8R from scratch, it's not as hard as you think. - John.

The tail parts should be pretty easy to make again if you have the plans, or actually the computer drawings, that Pat put in the kit. You could scale up the drawing and build new parts from it. I think www.flypcm.com is dead and burried. I've seen lots of questions posted over at rcscalebuilder go unanswered.

Dave, try contacting Wayne Beasley just outside of Edmonton (he works at Great Hobbies). He's got an AV8R that's almost finished, and could probably help you with making a new set for yours. I know he's kit bashed / modified it a fare bit, so he may have some of the exact parts you need, unused and without a home...

Thanks Guys.
Thanks Wayne22, I will sure be able to use the rudders. I just need to find a stab. The original is foam and fibre core sheeted with balsa. I might be able to make one out of just balsa. Build a frame and sheet with balsa. Any thought on whether this would be strong enough?

Guys,
Thanks for the Help. With assistance from Pat and Wayne, I should be able to rebuild the AV8R.
I learned a good lesson, fule siphons. I did not close the manual fuel valve while I did some adjustments. Fuel siphoned into the engine and KABOOM on the next start. Always cut the fuel flow off, You never know were it may go!!!!
Thanks,
