Rock Crawling Questions.
Hi,
I am new to rock crawling. I was wondering about a couple of questions. First what is a standard gear ratio for rock climbing. Second how is a 4 wheel drive hooked up. And lastly how do you hook up the driveshaft while allowing the axles to lift at different angles to climb.
Thanks.

RE: Rock Crawling Questions.
Shaft driven rock crawlers usually use a center gearbox. Those gearboxes have a motor, some gearing, and then two outputs. Those outputs are connected to shafts which are connected to the front and rear axles. The shafts have U joints at each end and the shafts can slide in and out, allowing them to transfer power as the axle articulates.

RE: Rock Crawling Questions.
oh ok, so they use a drive similar to what real monster trucks use? And also how is the gear setup to drive the wheels? Like do they use planetary gears or bevel gears? And then for the wheels, is there 4 axles like 2 join to make the axle for 2 wheels but there separated and allow a flapping type spring? Im kindoff confused thanks for the help so far.
