Default bent header..pics

is this a bent header? i was just outside doing some high jumping with my revo and after that, when i was doing ARO procedure, i found this:

right here you can see a little "dimple" in the manifold (near the center)

would it be a good idea to replace this? (wait, dont answer my question...i just ordered a THS pipe! [8D])

my questions is how can it get bent? i mean, its protected by the engine head, and if anything, the tuned pipe or coupler should have broken first.

EDIT: if i put on the THS pipe, would this also bend later? i ordered the hard-coated version, so it is a bit tougher right?

Yea mine bent A LOT more then that and I bent it back and ran it. You might have landed on the exhaust without noticing. That would push the exhaust into the manifold and bend it. Plyers and clamps fixed it for me

Like you said, mine is worst than those pics but I still run my Revo. My question is how did you bend yours back to where the right curve?

bendingthe header back just makes it weaker, the stock header is cast, not bent so even the best of them are weak compared to others, i'm fairly sure the ths pipe comes with it's own header.

Yea it did get weaker after I bent it back but its only stock so it didn't matter much to me. I bent it back useing a vice and some vice grips. Worked out ok for me. Yes the THS pipe comes with a new header.

DO you have a wing? You said you were doing some high jumping, and if you land on the tail of your truck you maybe flexing the rear tower forward. Since the rear pipe is attached to the rear tower, the pipe is shoved forward resulting in a bent header. you may need to add a brace. Check out this thread.

Traxxas headers are not cast. They are however bead blasted which gives them a uniform finish which many mistake as a casting.

Strange. I just ordered the .18tm manifold for my 3.3 last night and I noticed after reading this that mine has a dimple in it. Will that dimple cause any sort of problem with tuning or anything wierd like that?
