stock is the quietest u can go and it just loses you performance. just...wear ear plugs or something lol. i think u can deal with it. i have a trinity and its loud but its not so loud i cant deal with it. i love it loud.

Yeah the trinity is a loud pipe. The only thing louder that I've heard is a RD twin stinger. But a loud pipe doesn't make it a better pipe as far a performance goes.

performance comes from matching the pipe's tuned length to the rpm range the engine is ported for, if you have a trinity pipe on an RB TM523 you aint gonna get great performance because the RB is a high end engine, not a low down torquer, and you ain't gonna get great performance running the JP-2 pipe on a picco .26 because the picco is a low end torquer and the JP2 is aimed at high rpm.

anything with a tuned length of around 35k rpms, the rb pipe is obviously a perfect match to the engine (it's tuned to 36'690 rpm), remember the length of the header is a part of the tuned length, so running a longer/shorter header can be used to adjust the tuned length, and the jp-2 pipe is the high end big block pipe in the jp range (jp 1 is low end, 2 is high end, and 3 is mid range)

Full agreement with ttoks, if your pipe is not properly tuned to your engine, you stand to lose a bit of power, the RB TM523 engine's complete package is an ideal engine/pipe package... I spent 2 months hunting down the perfect pipe for my Revo and I picked one up that actually hands out decent performance and puts out a deeper note, kinda reminds me of an F1 engine, but a deeper note, its pretty much like a side pipe, only designed to fit in the same area as the stock pipe.. I like my exhaust tone a bit deep, but not loud enough to make my neighbours campaign against the Revo... thus far, I've been turning heads and getting smiles on my day's off from work..
this pipe works out well for me its a Vantage SS120r-01 single piece deal, its for the Revo but rated for .18 engines, comes with mounting hardware which is rather nifty, and the only thing is you have to build a deflector since the airfoiled stinger vents at a 45 degree angle, up wards..

RE: How loud is your truck?
The pipe that came with my TM323 is loud, but not in an obnoxious Trinity way... I can't stand the Trinity pipe... my friend had one on his OS 18tm... and it was just plain obnoxious... the pipe that comes with the TM323 is, as was mentioned, a lower tone... but loud... I definitely turn heads with my Revo... 'cause it is pretty loud.

usually the number of ports is a good indication, it is not 100% accuret but most of the time engines aimed at the low end will have 3-5 intake ports, a mid range engine will have 5-7 intake ports, and a high end engine will usually have 7+ intake ports, and most of the time a number of booster ports to help with the flow of fuel/air getting into the cylinder.
do be 100% sure however you'd have to run the engine on a dyno without a tuned pipe and find where it has the most power.

Quite honestly I've yet to come across a proper method, for me its trial and error OR coming across a pipe thats specific to your engine size...

RE: How loud is your truck?
i use an rc10gt pipe on my axial.32 revo. the stinger is removed and a hole drilled big enough to insert a hobbico exhaust deflector made for airplanes. i made the 90degree header myself and its inside diameter is a half inch at its smallest point. it is noticably louder than a stock revo or t-maxx.

here's pics of the homemade header and modded pipe on the revo. i think this setup has more power than any of the others i've tried.

yeah, it's dirty[i like it that way]! yeah, i need to ditch that little wire and make a mount for the end of the pipe. it uses savage25 exhaust silicone gaskets for both the motor and pipe. it's kind of a twist-on fit, that lasted about 10 tanks, until it fell off because of a worn gasket. a pipe mount bracket should fix that problem. otherwise, i think it rocks!

RE: How loud is your truck?
The loudest pipe you can get is a straight pipe. Haha. I was driving something happened my exhaust bolt on my maxx fell out then my exaust fell off.
Just idling was louder then my friends savy which was WOT at the time since he was having fun. I revved mine a bit and it was loud as can be. I shut it off and it was funny. We both laughed at it.

The RB pipe on my 323 was very loud and even my brother that runs RC's with me complained but, the Trinity pipe on the TM .18 is even louder! It hurts my ears![:@]

RE: How loud is your truck?
The same thing happened to me when I was breaking my maxx in. I rolled it and the pipe got knocked off where the zip-ties attach the tubing to the header and it sounded like it was going to blow up! So if you whan't loud just run a header and no pipe.
