Default Tiger Drive or Roto Start os .18tm?

I was going to run the Ofna roto start backplate and buy an HPI roto starter when my .18tm comes in, but I saw that the tiger drive has a back plate for the .18tm. Im a noob when it comes to tiger drive because I've never actually seen it on a vehicle before. It looks nice and high quality with the metal gears. Thats why I like the Ofna roto back plate. What would be my best bet? Also, what type of starter do I use with that tiger drive wand? Thanks.

From what I've read off the website, with the Tiger Drive, you get the [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGFK4&P=7]starter wand[/link] and attach it to an airplane style starter such as [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFT87&P=]this Sullivan one[/link] (although I'm pretty sure that others will work) by means of removing the stock aluminum drive cup on the starter, and replacing it with the shaft. Because of that, I'd go with the RotoStart because then you'd have to lug around a heavy airplane starter and a 12 volt gel cell battery, plus airplane starters have much more torque then car starters like the RotoStart, so if the engine is flooded or something, you could break or otherwise damage the one way bearing without noticing until its too late.

With the roto start will any roto starter work with any backplate? By that I mean if I buy the Ofna backplate will any roto starter (hpi, losi, duratrax, etc.) work with it?

The HPI RotoStart and OFNA Shaft Start are identical, I believe the Duratrax QuickPit Super Start is also identical other than it uses two batteries instead of one, but the Losi Spin Start is completely different. Yes, if the backplate is a RotoStart compatible backplate, then you can use a RotoStart. I have an OFNA RotoStart backplate on an old Picco .26 Outlaw and it worked perfectly with the RotoStart.

Thanks. I'm going to get the Ofna backplate and probably the HPI rotostart. I was taking apart my 3.3 today to sell it and realized how bulky that ez start really is, especially compared to a rotostart backplate.
