Small Maxx gasser question gets answered
I remember back a while ago when we where talking bout the weedeater conversions to the tmaxx when someone asked if the weedeater output shaft could be coupled directly to the rear end bypassing the tranny. Well, it0 can, but the gearing is wayy to high. So high that Ive goten it to about 30mph just on idle! I figure it should do over 60mph geared like this. It does have enough tork to go through the grass, but lags going uphills.
The first test was with big joes on 40's so now Im gonna try a smaller diamater rim/tire combo to see if I can squeeze a but more from her, but I dont think it will help much...
I built my maxx gasser last night. Took me from 11:00PM till 6:00am to fabricate. Ive already fell in love with the ease of starting a REAL gas powered engine. And a side bonus is its really quiet vs a nitro. The chassis remains un-cut, I diddnt strech the chassis to fit the weedeater engine. I can still install the nitro package back in a matter of hours. Also Im getting away with using only one strock traxxas steering servo. The body roll is horable so naturaly I had to install a roll bar.
Wish I hadda camera....
