Default G26, Abell muffler, poor idle

Put an Abell muffler on my G26. With an APC 17/6, went from 8400 to 9300 RPM. However, when reduced to idle, it takes several seconds to respond, then sometimes reduces speed to low and dies. Restarts easy, usually needs idle trim adjustment to idle nice, then the same thing happens. Am I too lean? Any ideas appreciated.
With a stock muffler, the idle trim never changes.

Changing mufflers, props etc requires resetting the needles to be sure you have the engine operating correctly for the new load.

Set the high needle for max rpm, back off just a bit
set your throttle stick for a high idle 2500rpm or so
adjust your low needle for max rpm at that stick position, back off just a bit
check transition, if it hesitates, open low end slightly until transition is good
re-set high needle for max rpm, back off a bit

then check your idle...

As noted, when you changed the muffler you changed the balance of the tuning. You will obtain better performance with the Abell muffler after you correct the mixture.

I too had a similar idle problem when I first fitted an Abell muffler to my G23, but simply readjusting the carb like Arobatx suggested cured the problem.
