If you are looking for a local hotel:
Comfort Inn on Hwy 87
850-623-1511
$69 per night. Let them know you are with Pensacola Jets to get this rate.

Bob,
Everyone is welcome to stay where you wish. However, I have not been to the Comfort Inn in Navarre. Nor do we have a negociated room rate with them. I checked on this the first year of the event and the rates were significantly more because it is close to the water. However, I will check with them tomorrow.

If you are bringing a camper, just check with me. We can bring several in, but the space is limited. We have to keep them on the edge of a runway for 2 reasons...
First, the field is currently closed to civil and military air traffic. The reason is that it is the habitat of 2 protected species, some kind of a salamandar and the other is something like a gopher tortoise. Sounds rediculous but they live underground and the Navy asks us to keep on the asphalt. At first glance, I was somewhat bothered by the creatures. But then again, those salamandars are what allow me to get the field at any time. The field cannot be sold and no buildings can be constructed on it...so they are some kind of an insurance policy if you will. I LOVE THOSE LITTLE GUYS!
Second, last year one camper went off the runway not knowing the situation. The camper was stuck and had to be towed out.
We can get probably 5 or 6 campers out there without a problem. I just need to know who is bringing them so I can keep a tally on them.

Sounds good Beave!
The pre-registration site will be up and functioning in the next couple days. I don't know if anyone knows but last month (after requesting my resignation from the Navy) I was handed orders to Iraq for a year searching for IEDs with the Army. Guess that was my thanks. Since thenmy orders were retracted and I have been taken off the hook and am no longer going. This is why everything is coming together a little late...I wanted to make sure I would be here.
Bob,
I called the Comfort Inn in Navarre. They are supposed to get back with me on Monday for rates. Just looking at their normal rates, they are generally around $20 more per night...times that by 3 nights and its $60 more. The one in Navarre is 5 miles from the field and the one on hwy 87 that I have a group rate with is 13 miles...so its going to come down to personal preference. $20 for 8 miles closer I guess is the question. In either case, Ill talk to the one in Navarre on Monday and post some rates and everyone can choose where they want to go.

Cool Bob,
I was just looking at their rates on hotels.com. They had it for $89. Ive called their manager but she wont be in until monday. Let me see if I can get a better rate than the $80...who knows. If so, Ill have your room tranferred over to the group rate.

RE: Pensacola jets this year ???
Just out of curiosity...I have a phone call into the Naval Aviation Museum. Im trying to get us a private party with food there on one of the nights. Anyone interested in something like that?? I'm not sure what the cost will be but I would imagine around $25/per person because they have to stay open late for us.
