What do I need for a big block on the T-Maxx 3.3?
I am currently wondering what I will need when I get the STS .30 for my T-Maxx 3.3. I don't want the cheapest stuff and I don't want ultra expensive ones, even if they are low grade.

First off u r gonna need an extended chassis kit.I would recommend Fastlane Machine for that http://www.2coolrc.com/detail.aspx?ID=183.Then u r gonna definately need to upgrade your diffs.http://www.2coolrc.com/detail.aspx?ID=93 these might hold up for a while if shimmed properly but if u want to bulletproof them i would get these http://www.2coolrc.com/detail.aspx?ID=99 http://www.2coolrc.com/detail.aspx?ID=101 and a set of buggy diffs of ebay for them.I use Hot Bodies Lightning diffs in mine. Next i have never used a 3.3 tranny on a big block before so i dont know how they would hold up but seeing how they use big blocks on revos with just an foc installled i would think thats all u would need too.And the last thing i can think of is a 1/8 clutch setup.I use a Mugen setup on mine but u can use just about anything out there

RE: What do I need for a big block on the T-Maxx 3.3?
cheapest way is just install a foc, and set your slipper loose. Not bulletproof but great for budgets! I am not familualr with t-maxxes but i do know that the 3.3 and revo have the sme trans so thats fine, but i know with a revo u need a new motor mount. Check this place out http://www.neweramodels.com/cgi-bin/...5&shortlist=1# Hope this helps

lol a big block T Maxx on a budget is not alot of fun.You'll end up fixing it more than running it.Maybe u want to put a drop in mid block like a Picco .26 or Sirio .27.U can use them with the stock chassis setup but your still gonna be blowing out your stock diffs and twisting your stock centers.Best advice i could give u is build it cheap and upgrade as it breaks.But dont be disappointed when it breaks,because things r definately gonna break.

You need a whole new extended chassis? I thought you could just buy a traxxas big block conversion kit.

the extended chassis would help with control and i dont belive traxxas makes a big block kit for a t maxx..... Check here http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi...=&part_id=1416... Unless u get a picco max. then the mount comes with the motor..

RE: What do I need for a big block on the T-Maxx 3.3?
The picco is a great motor and is very reliable. My friend has one in his t-maxx and it flies!! I still need to race him with my revo tho.. Not to sure about beating him with an 18tz but we'll see..[>:] also the sts 30 is no begginer motor. The break in alone is a hole gallon. Yes you can use the stock motor and clutch setup(thats what my friend is useing) but a stock pipe will be very restrictive. It will perform much better with a pipe like THS or cvec. You can find a new THS pipe online for around $40 shipped. A forward only conversion would be a good idea(takes out reverse and a lot of gears in the tranny) because thats makes for less gears to strip out. It is only an option though and if you set the slipper clutch corectly(a little loose) you shouldn't break anything. My friend has basically everything stock except for the motor and hasn't broken anything yet. Thats with reverse still in.

With the STS .30, the STS 702 pipe works best. It seems that instead of researching, you made a rush decision and bought an engine. Now your learning that you need an extended chassis, and upgraded driveline. The BB kit is only for the Revo, a little more research would have saved you many problems... Its not even worth it putting such a huge engine in a T-maxx, you will tear it to shreads trust me. Should have opted for the Sirio .23, .27TX, RB 323, 523 and Picco. 26. All very powerfull drop in engines...

I have a Picco MAX .26 and it pulls second gear wheelies. Get the Picco Max .26 and the OFNA Tmaxx mount.
I went the cheap route since I couldnt wait for a pipe and simply found a drill bit slightly larger than the 3.3 exit and reemed it some.
awesome power for $200
good luck

I don't think their is such a thing as a t maxx big block on a budget. This is one that i am doing on a BUDGET as well.
My budget is coming up on $600.00 and thats cutting corners with a lot of stuff. I will be replacing parts as they break.
It also depends on how you drive your truck as well.
MY budget t maxx big block
*dynamite big block chassis $150.00
*picco .28 $200.00
*dynamie 053 exhaust (not pictured) $50.00
* hitec 5645 $50.00
*rrp metal trans gears $125.00
*savage 3 shoe clutch with fly wheel $25.00
* shimmed stock 3.3 diffs $10.00
* mgt 1/8 clutch and plastic spur gear
The cheapest you could do is dynamite conversion kit with mach motor included$289.99 (comes with cvds, exhaust, motor.26, air filter, extended chassis, chassis braces plus other hardware for installation.

RE: What do I need for a big block on the T-Maxx 3.3?
well i dont know how well its going to work, but im putting an ofna force .21 into my t-maxx.. with the stock chassis. As far as i am concerned they only have the extended chassis to eliminate wheelies, and for better handling. I bought the ofna motor mount, and some savy parts to make it work.. and Im sure it will.. Besides that i belive the 3.3 chassis is extended as well.. 30mm past what the 2.5 was? so why not just get a 3.3 chassis and some cvds and metal drive shafts, set the spur gear a little loose and your golden. Unless i am wrong, which then the dynamite chassis would be longer than the 3.3 chassis
